Feb 26, 2015 12:54 PM in response to @nkitby lgpars,i am having the exact problem with my IPhone 6 Plus and it is really bugging me. It is a constant thing now and the only way to get it to pick up our WiFi network seems to be restarting my phone. My IPad works fine with IOS 8 so I'm thinking it is something wrong with the phone itself. Habe any others replaced their phones and it solved the problem?

Went to Apple store, they acted like they'd never heard of such a problem and wanted to make me an Appointment in 3 hours or the next day. Went back to AT&T and they replaced the phone... SAME problem. What a total disappointment considering I waited months for them to work the bugs out before buying. Clearly Apple is to busy counting my cash than working on a real fix.

I took the phone back to the Apple store and they replaced it. . .same problems continue to exist. . .degraded to nonexistent wifi connectivity. I have heard that if you get the phone replaced and do not set-up the new phone from a back-up that it will address the issue. That simply is not an option for me as I have apps with data that I do not want to lose.

That's odd... I was told the opposite. Saw a "Forbes" article stating 600,000 iPhone 6's having the problem and Apple is not talking.

I have a six plus and a 5S. The 6 plus had the same problem that has been described in this thread - dropped off Wifi, then impossible to get Wifi back. Looking at logs on the router, it appeared to be a DHCP issue. I then tried all the suggestions in this thread (disabling location services, reset, etc etc.) nothing worked. However, in the mean time, my iPad air iOS8 and 5S still had a connection, so that ruled out iOS8. Then one day, the 5S lost its connection too. No matter what I tried I was unable to get both phones back on Wifi.
At this point I noticed something in the log of the router - it reported that it could not sync to the NNTP server. The default NNTP server on my router was some weird un-heard of host. I changed it to time.apple.com, reboot and voila, DHCP started behaving properly again. And all my devices are behaving as they should.
I suspect that, as also reported in another reply above, the iPhone is ignoring router ack requests because time may not be in sync between the router and phone. I have no idea what the tolerance is, but to play it safe I use Apple's time servers on all the devices now, and everything is ticking in synchrony, and back to their reliable selves.

Here are the various steps I tried
I restored clean to 8.00 ( as instructed by Apple Support)
Cleared Network settings.
I've upgraded over time to 8.02
I don't use bluetooth except when necessary, so often at home it is off.
I turned off Wi-fi networking...
When I reconnected to my home Wifi, I connected to 2.4GHz instead of 5Ghz, Some suggested that the 5GHz band may be involved.
Then later after upgrading to iOS 8.2 and 8.3 and 8.4 since.... 5GHz connections are back to normal as well.

Jul 27, 2015 6:49 AM in response to Randy Kuiteby kmichalec,Agreed. I haven't had issues in months. Upgrades to 8/3 and 8.4 (and now 9.0 beta), seemed to rectify the issues. I can connect to 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz Wifi connections with no issues now.

Nov 7, 2015 1:17 PM in response to @nkitby jtumd,Around mid-October, my daughter's iPhone 6 started having problem with her WiFi in that the signal strength is OK if the phone is within 5 ft. of the wireless access point. Outside of that range, the WiFi signal is extremely weak rendering it useless. The phone was connecting fine before mid-October w/o any signal strength problem. It is happening both at home and at her college dorm room. I have an ASUS RT-N66W router at home, and an ASUS RT-N12D1 router at her college dorm room. We have 3 other android phones, 2 Windows laptops, and 1 iPhone 5S connecting to the same router at home w/o any problem.
After trying resetting the phone's network settings, upgrading the firmware to the latest version on RT-N66W (version 3.0.0.4.376_3861), changing the WiFi channel, and rebooting the router multiple times, nothing worked. Finally, I changed RT-N66W's frequency from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz, and that resolved the WiFi signal strength problem.
It seems that the problem is iPhone 6 is having problem connecting to Asus's 2.4 GHz frequency.
I'm going to try 5GHz on the Asus RT-N12D1 router and see if that resolves the problem.

She did not notice anything wrong until she started getting text warnings about her Data usage reaching high levels from her carrier. We called the carrier and spent hours on the phone. We turned off the wifi assist in settings. Then called Apple. We set the software back to factory mode and the iPhone still did not identify the house wifi nor any of our neighbor wifis. Possibly a hardware issue with the iPhone 6 internal antenna. Going to the Apple Store to check on the phone. My question is now I have to pay for excess Data usage. Apple should recall these iPhone 6 and reimburse for unnecesary Data usage.

Nov 28, 2015 11:01 AM in response to MercyO815by cann0nba11,SAME problem here. My wife was holding out on upgrading from her 4 because she didn't like the new flatter look of the iOS. Told her it would be ok, she finally upgraded to the 6 (Model MG5W2LL/A). Currently running 9.1 (13B143).
Current Situation
When I go to Settings --> WiFi, the button is grayed out.
When I go to Settings --> Bluetooth, I gett the spinning dashes like it is searching for connectivity.
1) Rebooting the phone enables Bluetooth, but Wi-Fi is still grayed out.
2) General --> Settings --> Reset --> Reset Network Settings causes a reboot, then Wi-Fi is available. I am able to join my Wi-Fi network.
I will see how long it takes to drop WiFi.
Please note: I am NOT having this problem with my iPhone 4 running the same exact version of 9.1. This is an iPhone 6 problem.
HELP me save my marriage!!!
p.s. Putting the power button on the opposite side of the volume buttons was a huge mistake. Should have kept it on top!

I spent a lot of time working on this tonight, as I've had similar issues since I got my iPhone 6 in March, and it's been beyond frustrating and no solutions in multiple threads have worked. I *believe* I have this figured out, as I just watched an hour-long stream without wiFi dropping (which never happens), so hopefully this applies to others.
I have a dual band router (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), with both using the same Name and Password, so devices latch on to either one (how it decides, I don't know). My router is the G1100 through Verizon Fios. I don't know how I got headed down this path but after hours of attempting things I decided to see if I could block my iPhone from having access to the 5 GHz band.
The router login is myfiosgateway.com and the username/password were on my router. In Wireless MAC Authentication I had to check the box that said "Enable Access List" in the 5 GHz Wireless column and then added the iPhone's MAC address to the "Deny devices listed below" list, and hit Apply to save the changes.
Since my iPhone could now only connect to the 2.4 GHz band I turned off Wireless QoS (WMM) for the 2.4 GHz. Whether the two are related (for example, both have to be done, just the first has to be done, or just the second has to be done), I'm not sure, but my phone hasn't lost its WiFi signal since. Granted, to this point we're only talking about a few hours since I made the changes, but typically it'd drop every 10-15 minutes or so and take another few minutes to get it back.
