Q: Can't sync music anymore with iOS 8. All disappeared.

Okay, I just updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 8 two days ago. Today, I wanted to put more music from my iTunes in my PC. Note that my iTunes in PC is recently updated. When I started syncing my new music, it won't work. When I start playing a song in my phone, won't work too. Almost all disappeared. From having 664 songs, I have 16 left. Please help. I want my music back.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried removing third party apps and seeing if that corrects the issue?

No. If I do remove the 100+ apps, will they automatically be placed back into their original places, folders and subfolders?

If this only happened with the iPhone 6 with recent changes, that would be bad. But similar sync problems have occurred repeatedly with my iPhone 5 back with iOS 6 and iOS 7. Now with iOS 8 I'm having similar sync problems with my iPad 2. You're right, playing music and syncing it with your computer is what created Apple's iPod market. You can find messages in these support forums at least as early as 2012 reporting these sync problems. Why can't Apple figure this out? This should be their bread and butter.

"Connect your phone to iTunes via USB

Go to Settings>General>Usage>Manage>Then delete all music (make sure none is left)"

Ok, whenever I try to do this on my 4S, Settings crashes. Any thoughts? TIA.

I have had persistent problems with my iPhone 5 stalling at the "Waiting for changes to be applied" stage of its sync with my laptop. Today I noticed that when I sync my iPad without converting higher bit rate music to a lower bit rate, the "Waiting for changes to be applied" stage is relatively brief. However, when I select "convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC, then there is a considerably longer delay at the "Waiting for changes to be applied" stage before it then switches to the stage where it shows which songs are being transferred to my device. Thus I now suspect that when the sync stalls at the "Waiting for changes to be applied" stage, most likely that is due to iTunes failing to be able to convert a song to a lower bitrate for some reason - it's stalling on a song bitrate conversion and not proceeding. This conclusion is also consistent with some other posts in this and other threads that some users have found that their problem is due to some troublesome songs in their library. Thus the solution to the problem may be to discover which song(s) is/are causing the problem. However, this could be a very tedious and time-consuming task for me since I have more than 11,000 songs in my library that I would like to transfer to my 64 GB devices. I would much prefer that iTunes was able to solves this problem, itself, and if it encounters a song which it cannot successfully convert, that it would report that song to me so that I could decide how to fix the problem, rather than just stalling and failing to sync properly.

I have an iPhone4...still waiting fro my iPhone6.

My iPhone wouldn't sync with the new iTunes update for iOS 8, no matter what I did.  I tried to "check" sync over wi-fi. "uncheck" sync over wi-fi.....blah blah blah.  And that never resolved the issues.

My 2nd gen iPad2 wouldn't sync either.  I have been on a rampage for the last week to find out why and nobody's suggestions resolved the issue.

My devices sync'd just fine before the update.

And I noticed that the new album art was't being saved, after the iOS 8 update, because the artwork was gone when I re-opened the app.

I fixed it on my system, I hope this will help everyone.

I searched for iTunes 10 and found that it was was available from Apple.  So I went into the finder, clicked on "Go", then selected "applications", found iTunes, and threw it right into the trash bin.

Then I downloaded iTunes 10 and attempted to install it.  "Attempted" because it didn't work.  I was prompted that there was an update.  So I let it update back  and guess what...it updated to 11.4.

So I opened iTunes and clicked on sync.............and it sync'd.

I am responding here to get some attention from Apple. This is ridiculous - this is my 3rd iPhone and (6, 64GB) and my music is not synching no matter what I try given all the solutions here. When I look in the bar at the bottom of iTunes, sometimes all my music is 'there' and then it is gone. In any case, nothing on my iPhone. I only see the purchased songs, not any of the ones that I imported into iTunes.

    PLEASE FIX THIS APPLE

Thank god for Spotify, but my purchase experience is ruined...

I had the same issues with iPad syncing after updating the IOS

In the summary I had a huge "other" number about 32GB where my iPad capacity is only 64GB.  And my audio virtually disappeared.  I reset all the settings, and it didn't work.  I reset all the settings and erase all content, and it didn't work.  I was restoring from backup and then I noticed when iTunes was syncing the apps the sync was fail on Google Earth and Flashlight.  So I deleted the apps.  The syncing worked fine until I got to the music.  So I went back to settings, storage, manage and noticed that google earth and flashlight were still there.  I had deleted the icons and it said all data will be lost, but there they were.  So I deleted the apps in the usage section.  Restarted the sync. BTW, I also disconnected from iCloud.  iCloud is great in theory but not working the way I want.

So I am now syncing and it appears all is well.  Will follow up but I needed to pay attention on when the syncing failed.  This is a pain but if an app is corrupted and/or not updated to the newest IOS, I am assuming that it can cause some issues.  I am not saying Google Earth and/or Flashlight are problems it was just that they were my issues, this time.

    Hope this helps.

I synced the music from iTunes to iPhone 6 64GB by plugging in phone with USB, clicking on iPhone settings, Music, check Sync Music, mark Entire music library. All synced up.

This solved my issue very easily!  Thank you so much.  I was pulling out my hair in frustration and tried many of the other solutions that didn't work.  Turning iTunes Match off on my iPhone made the Music options work properly in iTunes and immediately allowed the syncing of all music to my iPhone.

No, if you remove the apps, they will not retain their location. You will have to manually place them again as you reload the apps one by one, until you determine which apps are interfering with your sync.

Hi, I got the same issue with iPhone plus, but several other issues that are giving me a headace... I don't se Music in library except for the songs I bought (in Cloud) and I can't install latest version of iOS...

I installed using my old Iphone safecopy, it looked ok, got Music and so, but a couple of days ago I realized that I had no music on the phone (the songs I bought can be downloaded from cloud)

Then I realized that I made a misstake using a different library that was created when I created a new account for my doughters ipad. I was logged in as the correct user, but somehow the library was not connected to my Itunes library, but hers. I then changed so it pointed at my itunes library (the Music are in the folder), but her music is still shown, I used several different safe copies of my library files (both xml and itl). following the steps from apple support. Got lots of playlist that I wan't to keep

Even though I must solve this problem first, I tried to update iOS and I got errors not able to install.

    any advice??

    Thanks!

    Chris
