Q: Can't sync music anymore with iOS 8. All disappeared.

Okay, I just updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 8 two days ago. Today, I wanted to put more music from my iTunes in my PC. Note that my iTunes in PC is recently updated. When I started syncing my new music, it won't work. When I start playing a song in my phone, won't work too. Almost all disappeared. From having 664 songs, I have 16 left. Please help. I want my music back.

I did notice something odd. I started having sync problems at the same time that I noticed the huge delay in syncing music when I saw the artwork being updated, which occurs every time I sync, even if I have not made changes or added music. Many of the songs that are now not working were the ones that had missing or incorrect album artwork previously. I am not sure if that is the case across the board as there is no say way to identify which songs are not working, and I am not going to go through 7,000+ songs one at a time to find out.  I am wondering if it something getting corrupt with the artwork process during that update, as the songs played fine after the first sync, and the artwork update did not take place until every sync beyond that. If that the case I will take my files actually playing as opposed to looking pretty any day. But I don't see a way to turn that off.

We have two 128gb iPhone 6 and both are doing the same with syncing music, one seems to sync more music than the other one though? Very frustrating!

Have the iPhone 6 32gb ... tried to listen to music today, pressed shuffle and entire album gets erased!  Opened another album thinking I hit a wrong button and tried to listen to one song - all three albums I have from that artist are erased.  Reluctant to try any more because I don't want to lose any more music ... any similar experiences/solutions?

OI don't think you are erasing it by playing it. It seems to be getting erased when you synced. It only appears to be on your device. Were the songs you are trying to play and a re failing, items you bought from iTunes, or something you loaded from CD or another site? I just did a quick scan through about the first 100 songs in my iPhone and every one that I downloaded from CD or bought off a service beside iTunes are not playing. The iTunes purchases seem fine. Is anyone else seeing a correlation?

Yes, everything though Apple is working fine. But everything I put on myself has a red circle.

Yeah, it seems like every time you are going to want to add new music, you're going to have to get rid of everything and re-sync every time, until Apple comes up with a fix. I'm glad it seems to be a big problem and isn't just me. Does anyone know if Apple are aware of this Big yet?

i tried syncing my iPhone 5 in exactly the same way and it was fine (still on ios7)

The few I tried to listen to and apparently lost off the phone were legit CDs that were purchased and uploaded into iTunes ..... worked flawlessly with old iPhone 4 and iOS 6.

Same issue...I just about exhausted all options and then:

in Summary, go to Options, select/check Manually manage music and videos.

alike me & everyone else, we all have our playlists set and checked already, if you added new music, well then just sekect the check box on the Artist or Album, chances are if its more of the same which you listen Tomo then you'll likely have them checked already!

Now Sync! Hope it works for you and anyone else who reads! IM PRESENTKY WATCHING 3000+ songs syncing to my new iPhone 6

I Have to agree. My music "appeared" to be on my iPhone 6 but when I went to play it, song by song it was gone. But anything I bought through iTunes was still there.

Do we wait for Apple to find this bug and issue a fix or is there a way to bring this to their attention?  It's a real pain .... a benefit to the expanded memory was to have access to more songs, etc.  Would be great if it worked ....

I emailed a summary of everything we have talked about and a link to our topic. With all of the hours we are putting into the research that should be being done by their engineers they should make us hourly employees.

Yup I have this issue too. Incredibly frustrating. Have a 32gb iPhone 5. Seems to want to sync purchased music, or non-purchased music, or a random selection of the two - but never the complete number of songs. Pretty disappointed as my main draw for the iPhone is the iTunes/music integration. Hoping 8.0.1 will have a fix for this issue in it...

Solved it all with this (my earlier post):

And have you done a second sync?

The primary sync is  not where a lot of us have problems. And in my case it appeared that all songs went over. So just watching the number it said were transferring was not actually accurate. They appeared to work fine and after the second or subsequent syncs many of the files stop playing and you don't know there is a problem until you go to play the file. Hopefully that doesn't happen in your case.
