Q: IOS8 on ipad air dropping wifi connection on BT home hub 5

Two identical ipad Airs in our house - one upgraded to ios8 - one remains on 7. Both connected to our BT Wifi Home Hub 5.

ios8 ipad drops connection every minute or two and the only way to reconnect is to turn wifi off and on again.

ios7 ipad does not drop connection - ever.

ios8 ipad and router have been repeatedly reset - network has been forgotten and re-established. Dropping of network remains.

Drops happen during use - particularly annoying with connected games, news feeds, youtube and twitch.

Currently rendering upgraded ipad near unsuable for any connected content.

Anyone got any ideas? (oh - and don't just link trouble shooting guides - I've done them ALL)

thanks,

iPad Air, iOS 7.0.3

Turn Bt Homehub off for 30 seconds before that go to settings on ipad and forget Bt net work Then enter your wireless key. If that will not work do a reset settings Reset after reset you need to enter your wireless key This worked for me on iPhone & 2 iPads. Bsydd uk

I Have had this wifi disconnection problem and eventually decided it was a problem with home hub 5. I have now replaced the hub with an old unit Home hub 2 and it works perfectly.

Just followed the link supplied above by pterri - easy to do and seems to have solved the problem.  Would urge anyone else with same probs to try this first.

I'm trying to resolve the same problem with my iPad Air running iOS 8.1.1 How did you identify the 2.4ghz and 5ghz channels? I can review and change the channel options in my BT Home Hub 5 but they are numbered 1,2,3 etc - the ghz values are not shown. Once identified, how did you select the 2.4ghz channel?

Interesting that the iPad has this problem with a newish Home Hub 5, but connects immediately and remains rock solid connected on my friend's Home Hub 3.

GGo into Safari select home Hub select advance settings enter admin password continue to advance settings then select wireless then select 5GHZ select sync 2.5 GHZ and select NO.

At wireless SSID at the end of BT HOME HUB 5 ---------- type in 5G.   then apply.

You ou may well have renter your wirel key. Good luck.

    Thanks pterri

Went into BT homehub advanced settings, disabled 5ghz channel (ipad air was the only one using it anyway) and all works fine.  You're a star.

This happened with both an iPad mini and a 6+ after years of working ok. I found a fix was to lock wifi to a fixed channel. I'm sure there is a bug in IOS8 but it worked as a fix for me.
