Received my iPhone 6 Gold today. First thing I noticed is the outside of the box is blank. There is no picture, just a space where one should be.
I know this may seem petty, but for ÂŁ600 I expect everything to be perfect, including the box. Can I get another box?
In the future when I want to sell my phone a potential buyer may think the phone is dodgy as the box is substandard.
i believe starting iPhone 6 and 6+, apple start not to print the phone image outside the box, just the text iPhone 6 or iphone 6 plus. if you pay attention, even the manual guide is also not printing with colourful iPhone image. i think it might because of apple wanna start to use less ink or something for more environmental friendly stuffs.
your box is normal, all iPhone 6 and 6 plus is like that.

I bought my iPhone 6 in August 2015 however it broke a few days ago and I purchased the same from flipkart however a 32 gb variant. The box somehow had an image of the space grey iPhone 6 as opposed to my previous phone which I bought from an iStore which did not have any image. Here's a picture attached. Please advise if this is fine!
The box you are describing is the one that demo phones (the phones Apple sends to carriers for display purposes) come in. Where did you get this phone? Go to Settings>General>About>Model. What does it say?
The info in settings>general etc gives the model number, serial number etc as normal. The box also has all of the usual information on the bottom. The only thing unusual about the box is that the top doesn't have a picture. Maybe that is the new box design for the iPhone 6.
Assuming you're in the U.K or Ireland, it looks like a good model number, not a demo model number. Perhaps they ran out of boxes with pictures? Only Apple could tell you if they will give you another box.
I got 2 pre-ordered iPhone 6 phones delivered Friday the 19th, both from AT&T and both with white boxes. I assume that because they were shipped before the 19th in order for me to get them in time, they used white boxes. Or maybe they just had a printing problem with the boxes and didn't want to hold up shipment just because of that.
how can you tell whether it's a refurbished model or demo versus an actual retail version - all based on the Model number in the settings/general/about section?
wouldn't the serial number tell you more information?
I just received my IPHONE 6 SPACE GRAY 64GB-CLA from UPS, and it also had a plain white box as ymv13 described in his initial post.
I'm curious to know if my phone is an actual Brand New phone the same as if i would have grabbed it from the Apple store, or if its a demo / refurbished model?

I bought it direct from Apple on pre order. It arrived via UPS this morning. The top of the box is blank and it has iPhone in gold on the side.
Go to Settings>General>About>Model. What does it say?
iPhone boxes have the model information on the back, not the side.

Got mine from AT&T yesterday and its also blank with "iPhone" on the side in silver (which is the color I bought) so I am guessing its the new box design?
You could check the various unboxing videos online to see if their boxes differ from yours.
FWIW, the ones I have seen do not have a picture on top - just an embossed relief of the phone.
That's the design of the new box. White and minimalist.
If you look at any videos or even some reviews they have commented on the new simpler box design.
