Wifi issues ios 8 and iphone 6

New Iphone 6 has Wifi issues once it has connected.

I can connect to my wifi without any issues from my Iphone 6 and it works fine with testing showing about 10 Mbps to the Internet. Over a period of time, usually within 15 minutes or so, the wifi begins to slow down and if I repeat the testing, I am now getting < 1 Mbps. As time moves on it gets worse until it is unusable which can be corrected by rebooting my phone an or resetting network via General setting>Reset>Reset Network settings.Once I reboot or reset, the wifi from the phone is lighting fast until again the process repeats.

As a note, all other devices connected via wifi work great including another Iphone 5 running version 7.X and do not experience any wifi issues at any time. Since it is a new phone and new IOS , I do not know which one is causing the issue.

Exactly the same problem here, I also experienced a work perfect -> slow connection -> totally unusable procedure.

My iPhone 6 is a white one (T-Mobile no-contract).

BUT, my roommate got a grey iPhone 6 (T-Mobile no-contract) without any problem. I also tried what I can find to solve this but the problem still.

Have you tried in another Wi-Fi environment?

No...only one available at this time. Will not be able to test another wifi but I did set up another call with Apple for today.

Have done lots of research on the web and it looks like some folks work great and others have the same issue as I reported. If it was only Iphone 6 users, I might suspect a possible hardware issue on some on the new phones. This looks to be more IOS 8 related as it seems to cross many platforms so we will see.

I did set my router to 802.1B and it seemed to be more stable , but this took all other users on the net from 10 Mbps to about 2.5 mbps and they were not too pleased and made me change it back. Did not get a chance to test long enough to see if it stayed stable at the slower speed.

When I experience the issue, these all fix it temporarily:

Rebooting phone

Turning on airplane mode for a few minutes

Turning off then on Wifi mode

Resetting Network Settings

I'm using the iPhone 5s and iPad mini with retina and I had the same issue with wifi on my iPhone 5s. I was able to solve this issue by SWITCHING OFF CELLULAR DATA by going to SETTINGS > CELLULAR. I figured the problem was related to cellular data as my iPad mini (wifi only) didn't have any wifi issues.

My guess is that iOS 8 has a few bugs with juggling between internet connections between cellular data and wifi due to new iOS 8 features such as continuity (which allows phone calls and text messaging to be made/received via iPad and MacBook) and VoLTE (which allows phone calls to be made via wifi and switch to cellular data seamlessly).

So my suggestion is to switch off cellular data whenever you're connected to wifi until Apple releases an update to solve this issue. I hope this helps anyone who reads this as it has helped me.
