Q: iPhone 6 bluetooth not working correctly with Nissan

My wife and I each have a Nissan Pathfinder (mine a 2014, hers a 2013).  We have always had out iPhones pairs to them, but the iPhone 6 is not working correctly.  The phones pair, but there is no audio (in or out) during phone calls, the screen in the car does not show a call was initiated when dialing out, and the Answer and Disconnect buttons on the steering wheel are not working.  We have restarted both phones, restarted the car, deleted the pairing and re-paired.  Nothing works.  Is anyone else having this problem?  This is a HUGE problem and it needs to be fixed ASAP (I am hoping through a phone firmware upgrade).

I also noticed that my Jabra headset I use at my desk (although it works for calls), loses the functionality of the single answer/disconnect button. I am assuming this is the same issue to either the bluetooth radio hardware to firmware.  I have only seen one page on the net talking about this to date.  Any hep is GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks.

I've been trying to be patient, occasionally reading responses here and there that suggest that somehow this is my problem and not Apple's, but the fact is that it is Apple's problem. I have three Bluetooth devices. One out of three has been discovered by my new iPhone 6. One device is new - never been used - so it's not an issue of it already discovered by another phone. (Since when should that be a problem anyway?) It is incomprehensible to me that Apple would launch a new product that has had so many problems with old technology. And that Apple would be so damned quiet about it when it's obvious so many people are having issues. Now, please, someone tell me when Apple intends to address the problem.

I'm pretty sure the onus isnt on car manufactures to supply a patch ;-)

If the car's Bluetooth profile isn't compatible with the new iOS Bluetooth profile, then yes, it is the car manufacturer's responsibility to make sure the car's Bluetooth profile is up to date.

Yup. Thanks. (You'd think Apple would have been a bit more proactive in letting people know about that process!)

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht6473?viewlocale=en_US

apple rolled out this article on oct 2.  i saw it and gave it a try.  it has been over 2 weeks and i have not had any issue with pairing with my hands free.  i firmly believe the issue is bluetooth and icloud.

please click the link above, read it thoroughly, and follow every step.

    the 2 important parts are:

    1.  unused devices NEEDS to be deleted from "find my device" in icloud.com.

    2.  every device using the same apple id and running ios 8 NEEDS to be listed in your iphone 6's bluetooth menu.  if you don't see it, log your apple id out of the device (ipad, ipad mini, etc), power cycle, then relog in with the apple id.  make sure bluetooth is on in all devices.

if you have previously paired your iphone 6 with your car, make sure you delete the phone from car's hands free, vice versa, delete the car from your iphone 6 before performing the steps in the article.

i know this works because i was frustrated having drop audio in car's hands free.  i have tried reset, restore, reset network setting, reset all setting, none worked.  but when i did these steps, magically everything worked just fine, and it has been over 2 weeks of trouble free operation.

    good luck....

Just FYI, that's when it was last modified.  That article's been around for a while.

Just FYI, that's when it was last modified.  That article's been around for a while.

    does it really matter?

the article referenced ios 8, which came out about a week before iphone 6 release.

the issue is specific to icloud and bluetooth, which is handoff feature that's new to ios 8.

even if it has been around for a while, it can't be more than a month or so, unless you can show me this has been around for "a while"?

i see many poor souls here are trying to get their new iphone 6 to work with their cars, and i am fortunate to get it work by following this article.  i just want to share what worked for me with others, hoping they will get it working too.

Please see some of the posts we have in this thread for possibly workarounds until a new iOS release is out.

Hopefully 8.1 will fix all these issues. I am SURE it has to do with the bluetooth stack.

I said it was an FYI.  Not meant to overturn everything you said.  But since you rankled at that:

Yes, the article references iOS 8.  But MANY Apple articles make a reference to iOS 8, even ones that have been around a long time.

Is this one that's been around pre-iOS 8?  I have no idea.  I'm sure I've seen related articles about Bluetooth accessories before, but this one in particular, I really don't know.

When someone gives you an FYI, don't get so rankled.

excuse me, i should have said apple "updated" this article on oct 2.....

do you think i didn't see the word modified when i saw the date?  and even if i didn't, does it really matter?

thank you for pointing out "modified" and not "rolled out".  other than that, i find your reply has no basis and contribute to nothing toward fixing bluetooth issues.....

we are here to help each other out to solve the bluetooth problem, not to nitpick on each other's posts.  if you don't have anything good to say, just keep on reading instead.  that's what i do....

After 2 days of reading blogs, I finally got my IP6 8.0.2 to connect to my 2013 Pathfinder, so it is not a Nissan issue, I had to mess with iCloud, which should be an unnecessary step, follow the instructions Apple provides for bluetooth

Issues with pairing iOS devices to Bluetooth in cars has been around for a while.  Assuming or inferring that it's related to iOS 8 specifically is faulty.

Seriously, such a vitriolic response to a simple clarification is unneeded on your part, albeit mildly amusing.

    Have a good day!

I have a new iPhone 6 and have tried all the options like rename and restore things trying to get this Bluetooth to work with no avail. I have 4 cars and a jam box none of them are working correctly with calls and they have intermittent issues with streaming. My other two phones including an iPhone 5 work without issues.

Come on apple get with it and fix this issue, it's not a connection issue with the cars its an iPhone 6 issue- face it and figure it out!
