During install of 10.9.5, iMac stalled half way thru 'Completing installation' phase. Have spinning beach ball, but no progress after 1 hour. How should I proceed?
i Have a Carbon Copy Cloner backup on external drive.
Try shutting down using the power switch and then start up again.
I Was under the impression that if an OS install was interrupted, bad things would happen.
Most of the time bad things can happen, but there have been a lot of posts here about a hang, like you are experiencing, and when restarted, the installation either resumes, or it turns out it was actually done. Since you have a backup, you can fix an oops.
I found this: 10.9.5 update stalls, I reboot, and I am still at 10.9.4.
And the Bash fix cannot be installed.

Try running the combo update.
The BASH fix requires 10.9.5.
