Nov 1, 2014 8:40 AM in response to sarumbearby mpare,I feel you're pain. I reset all my settings, and that appears to have remedied the copy and paste problem ... for now. In its stead, the mail immediately crashes every time I first try to open the app. After that first crash, it opens. This OS is replete with bugs, some of which, like copy and paste, have been around through too many revisions of the operating system. I'm sure that Apple is as annoyed as we are, but it certainly doesn't show.

Nov 1, 2014 8:50 AM in response to TheHajby Steve7485,I continue to have the copy/paste problem, too, but on my iPhone. Tried resetting phone, which solved issue for a while, but now it's back, leading me to believe it may indeed have something to do with excessive RAM usage. Please fix this problem, Apple!

Nov 1, 2014 8:55 AM in response to mpareby sarumbear,The biggest issue is I no longer enjoy my iPad. Apple made a pact with us that the user experience should always be the best possible. We know what is possible, things worked on 7!
this type of failure has much larger consequences for Apple.

Nov 1, 2014 9:55 AM in response to TheHajby arrow7,ok that's how I fixed it (both browsing speed and clipboard issues in Safari):
1 terminate Safari from the App Switcher
2 in Safari settings delete all web data
3 now go to iCloud settings and uncheck Safari; when prompted to keep or delete the data locally tap delete (it will remain in iCloud)
4 reboot the device
5 when logged in again activate back Safari syncing in iCloud
Now launch Safari, reading list bookmarks etc... will sync back progressively
that's it. Speed is back and copy/ paste work properly again. My only guess is that the transition to iCloud drive corrupted a lot of data; so, resetting Safari syncing with iCloud seems, at least for me, to solve the problem.

Nov 1, 2014 4:59 PM in response to arrow7by sarumbear,arrow7 if your post was for me, I already said that I had a clean install, which removes link to any iCloud backup. The problem is solved temporarily but manifest again within a day of using.

Nov 2, 2014 5:47 AM in response to TheHajby luay1985,Thanks Arrow7, you have just reminded me of an issue I had with my iPhone 4s last year (2013) when iOS 7 was released, which is this issue: (Re: iOS 7 keep turned off my iCloud settings and asking my password) .... After a lot of testing, we discovered that lack of memory causes this issue to show up, and a simple work around was to disable document iCloud syncing ....
I still have the same iPhone 4S, It seems the same root cause is actually showing here in iOS 8.x ...
I have just done this (Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Safari = OFF ), After that I tried more than 8 times to copy different content and links from safari and paste it somewhere else ... it worked perfectly even though tons of other apps were running in the background .... Guys, please try it and verify if disabling Safari from iCloud drive eliminates this issue ...
I will let you know if the issue returned while the Safari is disabled from iCloud drive ... (Hopefully not)

Nov 2, 2014 10:31 AM in response to luay1985by Raymond N,My wife's iPad Mini has been having this problem in Mail.app which I think uses Safari's engine to render email. She was about to go to Apple and demand a refund because it has become useless. Turning off Safari in Settings>iCloud as per luay1985 worked great so far. Thanks!

Nov 2, 2014 12:10 PM in response to Raymond Nby TonyLima,Well, turning off iCloud for Safari won't do me any good. iCloud has not been turned on for Safari for at least a few months. iOS 8.1 is still broken -- mail app is flaky, copy and paste fails to update with new text copied, and the entire platform just doesn't feel stable. Come on, Apple -- as a stockholder I expect better from you.

Nov 2, 2014 1:05 PM in response to Raymond Nby sweenoid,I Agree, I am an Apple geek and a huge fan HOWEVER this iOS and the problems it is causing .....and Apple's total silence and lack of comment makes me wonder whether they are distracted by other issue's.

Nov 2, 2014 1:16 PM in response to sweenoidby arrow7,That's exactly what I've been wondering since iOS 8 was released. The number and the importance of bugs .... something wrong going on among the software engineering team ... it's never been that bad with any previous iOS version.

Nov 2, 2014 1:39 PM in response to sweenoidby arrow7,adding that I started a thread here immediately after 8.0 was out ... about that clipboard issue in Safari. That was one and a half month ago.

Nov 2, 2014 2:21 PM in response to TheHajby arrow7,guess what just happened: after copying and pasting a part of a previous post (editing timed out) ... WHAT WAS PASTED WAS A PASSWORD INSTEAD !!! A password I needed to enter in an app earlier today.
thank you and congrats Apple !!!

Nov 2, 2014 4:31 PM in response to TheHajby GASusiQ,After many conversations with Apple and going up to supervisor in tech support, I was told to take my iPad in to an Apple Store for repair to the tune of $249. This was after many restores, resets and every other trick they suggested and some I found here. I told her no thank you...there was nothing wrong with my iPad before I did the original IOS 8 update....I will not pay them $249 to 'fix' it. So frustrated...nothing makes it better and like you all, I can't figure out why Apple isn't doing a better job of getting to the root of the problem...or at least acknowledging it. My device is slow, copy and paste doesn't work right, device locks up...usually when keyboard is engaged. Keyboad acts totally spazzed out like it has a mind of its own sometimes. I really wonder if it is a memory issue...something is bad wrong since IOS 8. I haven't done the very latest update as I'm scared it will just make matters worse..if possible to get worse. I even directed the tech supervisor to this comment thread. I told her my problems were just like everyone else's here and taking my iPad in for repair wasn't needed. I don't guess Apple cares.
