Q: IOS 8 copy paste problem + slowdown

Upgraded my ipad2 to ios 8. General slowdown, apps crashing on startup, huge lag when typing or selecting email from inbox. I've also experienced a strange copy/paste issue In Safari, facebook and other apps. When I copy and try to paste, I often get an old item I copied instead of the last item. Yesterday I tried to paste a URL repeatedly and kept getting text I copied from notes earlier in the day. I gave up. Today when I tried to copy and paste a sentence from a website, the URL that wouldn't paste yesterday kept pasting! Anyone else experience these issues?

You're the WRONG PLACE if you want to "tell Apple" something. This is ONLY a "users helping other users" forum and Apple is NOT HERE. You'll need to,"talk to Apple" through the official channels they have provided for people to do so ...

Apple staff follows and read the threads here .... you should know that .... LOL ... they do mail or call users rarely but it happens ... happened to me twice already after just posting here. This said I don't expect any feedback but an emergency fix ... LOL.

They don't follow it OFFICIALLY (that is "on behalf of APPLE ITSELF") and they don't log the reports and they don't submit them to software engineers. They come here only "on their own" as "individuals" ... and perhaps some think they can help themselves - as "users" - from solutions here.

IF you think you're TALKING TO APPLE here, you'll simply be fooling yourself.

You can write to the CEO if you want to, and no one is stopping you ... but ... the OFFICIAL Apple Support Channels are the following, and that's where people need to go, plus if you just want to "talk" to Apple and nothing else, you can do the Feedback, too!

just used an iPad Air with 8.1 - I was able to successfully copy/paste numerous times without an issue and speed is not a problem

    my own iPad 2nd gen with 8.1 is a copy/paste disaster and   s l o w

could this also be hardware related?

Could be somewhat hardware related in terms of the RAM that the iPad 2 came with. I would advise keeping apps out of your background list, namely "quit them" and you might run one of those utilities to clear memory. I'll bet that a lot of this is RAM-related.

had email & safari only running after a restart on 2nd gen iPad & copy/paste failures happened

could be chip & ram related, with newer iPads being more efficient & therefore ok with copy/paste

You can tell if it's RAM-related by having one of those RAM utilities to check on the RAM and how much is left, when the problem first crops up.

OK, OK Startraveler. Get the goddamned point. If people want to complain here to one another, they go for it. Don't pat attention if you don't want to.

As for you, you've made your point, as well as flogging Apole as a faultless nirvana, and suggesting numerous "fixes" which, if you read the posts, DONT WORK.

Save yourself some time, and spare us all your bottomless tiresome smugness and g-o a-w-a-y..

    Thank you.

I couldn't agree more. If there's something that I hate more than ugly iOS bugs, it's Apple cops.

Well, actually several points. That is ... I've gotten many points since giving iPad users here advice on how to get their iPads running okay again. And, as I've said all along, it's not just one solution or one person giving a solution, but the whole group of "users helping other users" ... which is ... the PRIMARY FOCUS of this forum.

And those points are given to me by other users, awarding them to me, when I help them solve their problems.

NOW ... that could be why you have ZERO points, as you have spent your time here COMPLAINING, instead of helping other users ... ya think?!

Trust me when I say I have done everything suggested here and everything Apple tech support has had me do. Many times over. I have gone as far up in Apple tech support as I can go.  We have had many, many emails and phone calls. The supervisor has told me I will not go any higher than her.  I am to call her or email her only about this mess.  She has my case number still open.  I won't even email or call her again because she doesn't have the answer fix. Nothing fixes the issues...contrary to what many of you here say.  All I can speak about is my iPad 2...no other generation iPad or phone.  I do not think Apple has a fix and maybe they don't want to have a fix.  Maybe they want us all to just go buy new devices.  I have no idea what else to do.  I do know we are all here just to offer support to each other.  Apple will not read this stuff unless tech support gets led to this thread by us...which is what I did with my tech support person.  Now whether or not she shared this thread with Apple engineers is anyone's guess.  Have all of you been on phone with Apple support to see if they can help you?  Thinking that if enough people call them, maybe they will address the bugs.  They won't address them if we only complain here.  And no one here is smarter than the other about any of this mess. To keep sharing the same links doesn't help.  And to keep suggesting the same fixes doesn't help.  Doesn't help me anyway.  Everyone should take the time to read the whole thread.

I have tried a ram clearing program on my iPad Air and my wife's iPad Mini which seems to work for a while. I don't do too much copy/paste so it has been perfect on my iPad Air and using the program temporarily relieves other seeming memory related issues like Safari reloadin the page when switched back to. As for my wife's iPad Mini it doesn't work as long. I did notice that while I have 1Gb of RAM she has 512Mb of RAM, which would explain why "free memory" doesn't work as long for it. This is a temporary kluge to the problem to be sure. My poor wife can't run her organization on the road anymore thanks to this issue.
