I agree but you have to realise that we are using consumer devices. They are NOT computers in the sense of a Windows or Mac where you can install rogue apps. All aspects of an iOS device is controlled by Apple. They sell us a working eco-system.
In reality, I don't have the time, nor the inclination to troubleshoot on nehalf of Apple even though it may help me in the end.

That's mostly so, but not entirely so. Developers are notorious for not following guidelines and finding a "way around things" ... which can cause things to "break" when Apple follows through on what it says it's going to do, and a few developers have ignored Apple. Apple can't "follow" over a 100,000 developers to make sure they are doing what they're supposed to be doing and that they won't break something. It's up to the developers to "follow" Apple and keep on track for what they are supposed to do.
In reality, I don't have the time, nor the inclination to troubleshoot on nehalf of Apple even though it may help me in the end.
That's okay, because you don't have to do so yourself ... you can sit back and wait ... and I'll guarantee you someone else will, and it will get taken care of in the long run.

Nov 5, 2014 5:59 AM in response to TheHajby luay1985,Unfortunately the problem came back after disabling the iCloud Drive Safari ... this is another dead end.
1- iOS 8.1.1 has been seeded to developers, the release notes say:
"Performance Improvements
This release includes bug fixes, increased stability and performance improvements for iPad 2 and iPhone 4s " https://developer.apple.com/library/IOs/releasenotes/Miscellaneous/RN-iOSSDK-8.1 /index.html
which should be a good news to all of us
2- Is anyone facing this problem on newer models ? like iPhone 6 or 5S or 5 ??

You'll get a more appropriate response to that question in the iPhone forum, since this is the iPad forum, that you're posting in right now.
Post the question in this forum ...

Nov 7, 2014 11:30 AM in response to TheHajby nigelkay,Just adding to the choir here, but I'm using the latest iOS update and I still have the copy/paste problem as many other people do. Both on my iPad mini and iPhone 5s. It's driving me insane and I can't believe it was not resolved in the last update.
You cut something and then paste it and it paste something from one or two copies ago and you've lost what you cut. It's amateur hour at Apple lately.

Nov 7, 2014 12:13 PM in response to luay1985by F1Mad,I'm afraid 8.1.1 doesn't fix the issue either. Same copy/paste issue, same issue with abysmal performance of anything related to Safari - as a developer, the latter bug is killing our app!
Star Traveler, some of your comments are very frustrating. Yes, an iPad2 may be an old device but the iPad mini (a device that's still being sold new by Apple!) shares the same CPU/memory. IMHO this makes the device "unfit for purpose".
I'm surprised that Apple have stopped us from being able to downgrade to iOS7.1.2, especially since they've screwed over so many devices with iOS8. I really fear for the future of this platform!

That would be like me saying I'm surprised that Ford Motor has prevented me from retrofitting my Ford to putting wings on it so I can exercise my right to fly! ... LOL ... Ford has never "allowed" that, and they're not about to set up the infrastructure in order to enable owners to do that ... :-) ...
Likewise Apple has NEVER enabled any kind of "going backwards" with the iOS from the very first one 7 years ago, and they're not about to do it now, and set up the infrastructure to allow that and to handle all the headaches and problems and failures from doing that.
BY THE WAY ... I really do fear for the future of Ford automobiles because of Ford refusing to accommodating owners who want to retrofit their cars with wings. I guess I better sell my Ford and get a Chevy! ... :-) ...

Nov 7, 2014 1:07 PM in response to Star Travelerby mpare,I find it interesting that you see an analogy between returning to a prior OS that had an established record of reliability and putting wings on a Ford. Wings are a silly and irrelevant add-on for a car, whereas the OS is essential to a mobile device's operation. Keep the wings. We'd like a more reliable OS.

Are you just here to wind people up? Unfortunately, I've read every single one of your posts on this thread and they've been of ZERO help/significance. Stop being a troll, and either offer some real assistance of value (which I doubt you can in this case) or leave us alone.

Well, the "being of zero help" seems to be your specialty and not mine. I see you're the one with ZERO points, not me ... :-) ...
FURTHERMORE, in offering "real assistance", I just had points added today (and they are added every day) for "real assistance" and a user telling me "thank you for helping" ...

It's comparable in that it's something that has NEVER BEEN OFFERED ... and it's something that only very few users state they want, and that it's NEVER GOING TO BE DONE.
The "essential iOS" already exists as we speak.

Hmmm, so you *are* a troll! Do I care whether you have "points" or not? No, not really, as it doesn't actually help the many disgruntled users on this thread that you seem to be ****-bent on winding up. I personally don't need any virtual points to feel important - I have a life!
Tell you what... if points and "thanks" mean so much to you, I'll kindly donate both to you if you kindly GO AWAY and stop wasting bandwidth!!!

Nov 7, 2014 1:46 PM in response to Star Travelerby GASusiQ,So here you are again. Do you have any help for us with the copy/paste issue for iPad 2? You have been here posting for points and status upgrades but I have yet to find a post in this thread by you that fixes the problems we are experiencing. Aren't there some other threads you could be of more help on? Or could you spend your time more productively hunting us some advice somewhere that actually helps instead of just being a nuisance to us on here? You are rude and argumentative. If anyone on this thread has actually been helped by you, I would love to hear it. Now..let me go see if there is a way to hide/block posters on this support page.

It doesn't matter whether you think so ... only that the overall users on this forum think they are receiving help from me. Your opinion of the matter is not relevant.
