Q: iPhone 6 not connecting to car Bluetooth

So I got my iPhone 6 yesterday, and while all seems well, I can't get it to connect to my car's Bluetooth system.   My older 5S running iOS8 does fine, so I don't think is the OS... And, frankly, this is an after market bluetooth set up in my 2006 Murano, but all other phones can connect, just not the iPhone 6.

There is no manual for the car's system, but I've managed to get it to "search", and while the car does find my phone, there is no way to enter a code on the phone to get it to pair properly.  And the phone NEVER sees the BT module in the car to do the pairing.

Again, this is NOT a iOS 8 problem... but one with the new iPhone 6

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Pro-Tools 11 HDX

Add aftermarket to the list of incompatibilities as well. Kenwood DNX7100; working fine with iOS 8 and a iPhone 5; iPhone 6 not as well. Siri still comes through the speakers and the microphone works but phone calls do not route to the speakers and music keeps playing. You can call from the car stereo and the phone makes the call, but it does not transfer / hand off the voice / microphone. Very frustrating. And the Kenwood head unit and bluetooth interface are both fully updated as far as firmware updates.

Guys after playing around with it right now i was able to solve this problem! this is what i did...for my 2011 honda accord...give it a try on your car.

    1. turned on BT on my iPhone 6 which had already paired to my car before as i mentioned in my last post

    2. turned on my car

    3. went to handsfree setup and deleted all the phones that were stored in there...i had 5/6 stored...one of them being mine...the other 4 being from previous owner i would guess. i deleted each and every one...so i was back to 0/6.

    4. then went to my iPhone and tapped the 'i' next to handsfree under bt settings and did 'forget this device'.

    4. then handsfree in my CAR automatically asked me 'do you want to pair a new phone'. i said YES.

    5. i paired my phone using the 4 digit code that my car displayed.

    6. then it said 'connected' next to 'handsfree link' on my iPhone like before...but this time it actually worked! i made a phone call as well as received one and both came out of the car speaker.

hope this helps you guys! give it a try!

Figured it out. Went to Settings -> General -> Reset All Settings (perform task) and then after reboot Settings -> General -> Reset Network Settings (perform task) and let it reboot. After the phone started back up, I again paired the bluetooth devices, and they auto connect properly and both Siri and phone calls are 100% working as before from my iPhone 5.

I'm having a similar issue. Contacted Apple Care and they told me to erase and reset my phone. I did, and the problem persisted. They then said I need to erase my phone again and restore it through iTunes. They indicated that doing it through iTunes was going to place new firmeare on the phone. I don't currently have access to my computer and therefore have not been able to do the required restore. From speaking to the agent it does not appear that Apple realizes it's a consistent issue.

paired my iPhone6 to car's bluetooth today for the first time - it was successful until I made a call.  It recognizes the phone but won't connect. Never had problems with previous iPhone models or running new OS. Hope Apple fixes soon. I hate talking in the speaker mode!

For what it's worth, I've already done a complete restore of the software on my iPhone 6, but it had no effect on connecting to the car's BT system.

I was having the same problem. Traded my iPhone 4 for iPhone 6 and had backed up the new phone from iTunes to load all my apps, contacts, etc. All was good but I could not sync it to my Lincoln MKX. I read a solution from another Apple discussion and it worked for me!!

I deleted all phones on the car, so it was saying "Add phone". Then went into iPhone 6, Settings, Bluetooth, then where it says SYNC, tapped the little i in the circle. That took me to a new screen and I tapped "Forget this Device". I tried syncing again with the car and all worked great. I was able to download my Phonebook and place and make calls. Maybe something transferred over from old phone to the new one when I backed it up from iTunes.

    JoxesCA,

Can you play Pandora on the Ford as an application with track listings? I have tried this on 2 different Ford models.  All we get is Bluetooth Audio but no way to send commands to Pandora like "change station", "thumbs down/up" etc.  If you say Mobile Apps, Pandora should be listed as an available phone app.

Im having similar issues with my 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited. Worked fine on iPhone 5 iOS 8 but not with my new iphone 6. The music part  works fine but the phone calls do not. It's very frustrating because I feel like this a law in some states and now how are people supposed to communicate when they already have bluetooth hands free. Also, the reception icon on my screen shows no service although m iPhone says I do.

I have managed to reset all the setting on my iphone 6 and that did the trick for my toyota camry 2012, had no issues with bluetooth connection on my iphone 5s and ios8, this was the first for me. settings- general- scroll down all the way to reset- reset all settings.

I tried pairing and erasing both on my phone and on the car system but that did not help, the only thing that did was the settings reset !

I am having the same problem..
I have Mitsubishi Outlander SE 2014... iPhone 5S worked without any problems. With iPhone 6 I cannot make phone calls... Phone sees car stereo, plays music, I can received phone calls, but placing a call requires  manual switch to Car Handsfree system. Really hope Apple will be able to resolve a problem very soon.

    Quick update...

I followed one of the suggestion mentioned in one of the post. And did exactly the following:

    1- Settings/General/Reset/Reset All Settings

2- Phone rebooted. Then removed anything in under bluetooth devices with clicking the "i" and forget device

3- Went to the Ford and erase the phone list under bluetooth

4- Click on "Add a phone"

5- Followed the instructions and added the phone

But I was able to to do this before. The problem I faced was the call dropped after the first ring.

The true test was the phone call. I was able to successfully place and receive call over bluetooth in the car.

When I got my iPhone 6 I did a restore from an iPhone 5S backup. It looks like something changes in the iPhone 6.

I would suggest to setup the iPhone 6 as new. I know it's going to be a pain but at least you will start fresh.

Next test, the Porsche PCM later on this evening. I will keep you updated.
