Q: iPhone 6 not connecting to car Bluetooth

So I got my iPhone 6 yesterday, and while all seems well, I can't get it to connect to my car's Bluetooth system.   My older 5S running iOS8 does fine, so I don't think is the OS... And, frankly, this is an after market bluetooth set up in my 2006 Murano, but all other phones can connect, just not the iPhone 6.

There is no manual for the car's system, but I've managed to get it to "search", and while the car does find my phone, there is no way to enter a code on the phone to get it to pair properly.  And the phone NEVER sees the BT module in the car to do the pairing.

Again, this is NOT a iOS 8 problem... but one with the new iPhone 6

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Pro-Tools 11 HDX

Great to know, I hate messing with iPhone reset and other experiments. Apple always is rushing to release the new OS, in order to compete with Samsung or other companies, which is OK. That's why I always try upgrade or buy their devices a few months after the release. This time I did not, which made me waste my time running from dealership and calling the maker of the car tech support. The last place on my list to call, was the Apple Support, but the online support save my time in calling Apple.

    Thanks!

I am also having problems with my iPhone 6 and 2010 GMC Sierra. The phone connects to the system but the phone doesn't work properly when making calls. I can't hear the person and they can't hear me. I had zero previous problems with my iPhone 5 on iOS 7.  I hope 8.1 fixes the issue because this is very frustrating.

I have this problem too in my Infiniti.  No phone calls, but bluetooth streams music and even lets SIRI talk over car audio, but no phone call.  I was even able to make the audio for a face time go over the car audio, but not a standard phone call.  Reset phone, deleted phone from car and re-paired.  No luck.

    Hi All,

I have similar problem as you guys mentioned above. I have installed IOS 8 on my iPhone 5 preivously and it works perfect to handle calls and music through my BT on my car Audi A5. When i got the iPhone 6 updated version 8.0.2 i can only run the music to the car BT but can't handle calls anymore! so i can only hear the caller from the iPhone headset

I doubt this problem from the iOS or from my Car BT, but i wish it's a problem on IOS software on iPhone 6 only so they can solve it in coming update! please if you found a solution for this please share it with me!

    Thanks,

I have this problem with my Infinity but just the opposite: I can make phone calls and my contacts all download to the car. But I can't hear my music or books that are on the iPhone 6. I also did not have this problem with my iPhone 5, updated with IOS 8. I have to conclude it's an iPhone 6 problem and that might be harder to fix than if it were related to software. But....what do I know?

    Dear mblack,

Thank you very much.  I have a 2011 RX350.  The iPhone 6 would pair and work for the phone, but not for music.  I was not a happy camper!  I did exactly as you directed, and now the phone and music work via bluetooth.

    "...-Deleted device from car.

    -Switched off car ignition.

    -Deleted network settings on iP6.

    -Hard reset iP6.

-Switched on car ignition , set car Bluetooth searching.

-switched on iP6, gave iP6 new name in settings/ about.

    - Accepted car request to pair with iP6

    - told iP6 to pair with car..."

Thanks Red 2. Your recommendations worked for me. The only thing I added that I saw in another forum was to lock and unlock my car after turning off the ignition. I don't know if that was necessary though.

It worked when I tried it yesterday and then today it failed with my Phone 6. On outgoing calls it rings twice then disconnects. Incoming it doesn't connect at all.

My iPhone 5 still works fine so it's definitely the iPhone 6. Really frustrating.

Was having trouble pairing my phone to car also. Got manual out. You have to add a new phone and not pair it with old one. It will still come up and show you the phone's name when you do this part so don't worry. I'm sure your manual will explain how to pair car with phone that wasn't used before. Good luck!

You're talking about something else completely. We don't have any trouble pairing our phones, the problem is with the phone/bluetooth remaining connected so calls go through the car system.

My iPhone 6 will play calls that I receive and allow me to access my voice-mail messages over my BMW bluetooth, but it won't connect when I dial a call (even when the bluetooth shows a connection, the car bluetooth is listed and selected in my audio connections).

An iPhone 5s continues to pair and work in all cases, so it's definitely the iPhone 6 electronics/software and not the car's bluetooth.

Here's the procedure which worked for both my car and my wife's:

    1. In your car go to the Bluetooth, List All Devices, and DELETE the iPhone 6.

    2. On your iPhone 6, go to SETTINGS/BLUETOOTH and delete any setting that was associated with your car, such as Car Multimedia or Hands Free, etc .

NOW ALL PREVIOUS CORRUPTED IPHONE AND CAR SETTINGS HAVE BEEN DELETED.

    3. On your iPhone go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/RESET/RESET ALL SETTINGS and then press the red "reset all settings" button.  (Note: Reset ALL settings.  Not just NETWORK settings.)

    4. Now, go through the normal procedure to pair your iPhone 6 with your car Bluetooth.

This should work as it did for me twice in two separate cars with two separate iPhones.
