Q: iPhone 6 not connecting to car Bluetooth

So I got my iPhone 6 yesterday, and while all seems well, I can't get it to connect to my car's Bluetooth system.   My older 5S running iOS8 does fine, so I don't think is the OS... And, frankly, this is an after market bluetooth set up in my 2006 Murano, but all other phones can connect, just not the iPhone 6.

There is no manual for the car's system, but I've managed to get it to "search", and while the car does find my phone, there is no way to enter a code on the phone to get it to pair properly.  And the phone NEVER sees the BT module in the car to do the pairing.

Again, this is NOT a iOS 8 problem... but one with the new iPhone 6

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Pro-Tools 11 HDX

"3. On your iPhone go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/RESET/RESET ALL SETTINGS and then press the red "reset all settings" button.  (Note: Reset ALL settings.  Not just NETWORK settings.) "

This seems to be the key. When I only reset NETWORK settings the fix did not hold.

I'm having the same problem with an iPhone 6+ and Acura TL 2013.  It would be nice if Apple would confirm what the problem is, and let users know when there is an expected fix, rather than letting us all rummage around trying different things as a fix.  Sounds to me as if restoring your old iPhone to the 6s might just be the problem.  Maybe it's copying across settings that it shouldn't.  In any case, HELLO APPLE?  Could you give us a little love here?

Resetting all settings is NOT a fix, it's a wipe out and start over, and in my case, I won't do it unless it is the last resort.  Hope maybe next update (tomorrow I think) has a fix...

Thank you for the tip. This solved my problem. New iPhone 6 blue tooth connection to BMW 2012 335ci was faulty. The phone would dial and as soon as the person said hello, it would drop the call. Very frustrating, but this simple procedure seems to have cured the problem. Thanks again.

I have a 2012 chev Cruze.  Just tried to pair with iphone 6 plus and does not work correctly.  I do exactly has instructed, enter the code, and then name my connection and get you are now connected.  try to make a call and do not hear any dial tone in the vehicle.  It looks like it is connecting, the person on the other end is getting my ring, but I cannot hear them and they cannot hear me..  this is truly frustrating.  When is the next software update occurring to fix this issue.

iOS 8.1 Resolves this issue fully.  Loaded update and my bluetooth connection now works flawlessly with my car.

Well I did the update and the issue with the 5s remains, no change at all. When making a call using the phone instead of the cars voice system the audio does not change over to the cars audio automatically, you have to select the car on the phone before hearing it through the cars audio. Looks like it has only fixed issues with the iphone 6 & Plus. Yes I have over the last three weeks tried all the suggestions made here many times. And again today I have done the forget and reset without fixing the problem.

It might be a moot point with iOS 8.1 but...

Reset all settings was an inconvenience, but it was worth getting my phone to work.

This will not delete any data. If you’ve got 16GB of music, videos and photos, this option won’t remove it.

When you complete the process, your iPhone will reboot. Despite the scary two step warning, this doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain in tact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy.

I've tried the above steps of resetting the phone settings etc and and deleting the phone entry from the car's bluetooth list. After doing that, I still had the same issue of the audio playback being choppy. I then removed the case on my phone and tried once more connecting without resetting again and it worked. I am guessing it has to do more with the case for the phone than anything else. Either way they need to release a patch soon.

Note: My problem was that the audio was choppy. I have an audi a3 and iphone6. Resetting the phone removed all the apple pay credit and debit cards I added yesterday. So be aware of this before resetting. I had to add all those back and and reverify each one of them.

The OS 8.1 did not solve the problem with SIRI. When I use it to call people from my contact list, it dials and then the network gets disconnected in my Lexus. If I am not using SIRI to call and just selct the phone and dial the Blu Tooth is working fine.
