Q: iPhone 6 not connecting to car Bluetooth

So I got my iPhone 6 yesterday, and while all seems well, I can't get it to connect to my car's Bluetooth system.   My older 5S running iOS8 does fine, so I don't think is the OS... And, frankly, this is an after market bluetooth set up in my 2006 Murano, but all other phones can connect, just not the iPhone 6.

There is no manual for the car's system, but I've managed to get it to "search", and while the car does find my phone, there is no way to enter a code on the phone to get it to pair properly.  And the phone NEVER sees the BT module in the car to do the pairing.

Again, this is NOT a iOS 8 problem... but one with the new iPhone 6

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), Pro-Tools 11 HDX

It's a simple fact that my fix worked for me.

You can "Apple fan" your comments till the cows come home. Understand, that I just don't care. I did Apple's job for them. If you say that I am wrong, I would laugh wholeheartedly. Please ignore this forum post and just walk away. You bore me...

I had the same issue and replied in an earlier post.   Turns out I was able to fix my issue.   I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma.    You have to set up the phone first before the bluetooth audio.  Since I already had my last phone set up this was causing an issue.  I'd pair the phone, then the audio wouldn't work, I'd pair the audio then the phone wouldn't work.  I went at this for hours then gave up.  The next morning I started fresh.  I deleted all previously paired phones and started over with pairing the "phone only" first,  when it asks if I wanted to set up bluetooth audio I said yes.    All is good with the world.  Now I just have to figure out how to stop getting emails to these replys.

I think this will stop the emails. Log into the discussion forum with you UN and PW and untick the "follow" top right

Hello. I'm having similar problems with iphone 6 and Subaru Forester. It does pair, but doesn't connect automatically like the ipgone 5s used to do.

I have to connect manually, it really unpleasant

I was able to pair my bluetooth with my CRV 2011, but I get an error message when trying to upload my contacts to Honda computer Phonebook.  Tried 3 times and get same error message telling me to try again.   Any ideas?

Try a simple reboot on your phone.  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time until you see the Apple Logo, then let go of both buttons and your phone will restart.  On occasion, I've had issues uploading contacts to my Mercedes system and simple reboot solved it for me.

I had a similar issue with my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT and the iPhone 6 Plus. I had just purchased the 6+, after a restore session and the applicable updates in iTunes everything looked as it did on my iPhone 4. I hadn't tried pairing the 6+ with the car yet, like you'd expect that to be an issue anyway. Later that day I found that the car wouldn't pair with the new phone, but still easily paired with the iPhone 4. I tried literally everything described in this thread plus a few more, you name it I tried it, no success. The iPhone 6 Plus (with the most current OS) would not talk to my car. By the way, it had issues even finding any bluetooth enabled device and only talked to a select few.

I would have appreciated Apple spending the time to actually test their product prior to launch. This is simply a rookie mistake by Apple, in my opinion. I have been a strong Apple supporter and own many Apple products, but his is inexcusable behaviour by the likes of Apple. I am very dissatisfied. In fact I returned the iPhone 6 Plus in disgust and promptly bought an Android for the first time ever. Sorry Apple, you loose and will continue to loose the support of loyal customers with these kind of errors. Try to do better in the future.

Hello fellow iphone / Bluetooth device users:  I have solved my iphone 5 BT problem.  I have a Sony Receiver w/Bluetooth, NFC & App Remote Model # MEX-N5000BT.  After I updated to ios 8.3, my iphone 5 would no longer play music via Bluetooth.  I read the Sony manual and found a key to solving this issue.  It says that when connected by a USB cable that the Sony receiver will pair automatically with the iphone device.  So, I hooked it up and immediately the iphone was requesting that 2 apps be installed " App Remote" and " Pandora".  I installed them both.  Then retested and the Bluetooth issue was fixed.  It now plays music as it did before the 8.3 update.  I hope this also works for you.

    Fast forward to June...
    It's not an Apple issue.
Your old phone must be deleted from the cars system- even if it's the same name.

Just go to settings find the list of current phones and clear the system.
    Reconnect as usual.

Didn't work for me in my 2012 VW Sharan. I've tried various things on this thread, and so has my wife with her iphone 6 - no success, and yet my friend with an iphone 4 can connect without any problems. Weird!
