Q: iPhone 6 not connecting to car Bluetooth

So I got my iPhone 6 yesterday, and while all seems well, I can't get it to connect to my car's Bluetooth system.   My older 5S running iOS8 does fine, so I don't think is the OS... And, frankly, this is an after market bluetooth set up in my 2006 Murano, but all other phones can connect, just not the iPhone 6.

There is no manual for the car's system, but I've managed to get it to "search", and while the car does find my phone, there is no way to enter a code on the phone to get it to pair properly.  And the phone NEVER sees the BT module in the car to do the pairing.

Again, this is NOT a iOS 8 problem... but one with the new iPhone 6

I put the iPhone into DFU mode, plugged it in to my Mac and let iTunes download iOS 8 and restore it. After it came back, I went through the setup and did not restore from iCloud or iTunes. After it was back up and i had a working phone, i tried it in the car and it worked great. I've since then restored my iCloud backup onto the phone and it's still working.

I have a similar problem -I phone 5 working fine with Blue tooth in my Mercedes E class 0 Command module on Monday - but now can't get any service with IP6 - but can play and hear music. Address book - call lists all showing - at first , but now these have vanished to.

The Command module says NO SERVICE - which there clearly is-

In fact Command still recognises my phone by name

Some one suggested removing previous phone -from module  -but not sure how to do this

    Any suggestions?

Mine takes a long time to connect, and it had problems with music fast forward and rewind.

Here's a post I made earlier today of what worked for me. I'm trying to let as many frustrated people know as possible.  I'm sure I'll be accused of "flooding" or "spamming" the boards with this post but having navigated and wading through the communities I'd hate for another possible solution to get buried.

Guys, Girls, this problem is affecting bluetooth headsets as well.  Can't answer calls, can't hang up after calls.  You can call out, it can talk to Siri and ask her to call someone.  I read a while back Apple said it's their problem, well, it's not just cars.  Definitely needs to be fixed.

I luckily didn't have an issue with my bluetooth headset.  My headset originally (before erasing iPhone last night) paired and worked successfully for me.  Sidenote: I paired the headset after unsuccessfully pairing the car - I thought I better add that so as to try and help others determine/eliminate issue(s) they may be having.

I think that at this point it's clear it's a software issue and that Apple needs to address this asap as in most states it's illegal to not have a hands-free device, so come one Apple, clock it's ticking and for how much these devices cost we should not be having these basic problems. SO FIX IT.

I should make something clear here as well:

The Bluetooth issue seems to only be affecting the making and rcving of phone calls thru my car. It pairs just fine. No issues with that. And the music plays fine. However when trying to make a call on the iPhone 5 or 6 (I was using both with iOS 8 and never had issues with the 5 using iOS 7 for the last 2 years) would sometimes dial a random number from my contact list upon connecting and the only way to stop it was to unpair it. The sound never came thru the car speakers only thru the phone. Even when you manually choose the "Mazda" that I was paired with, it wouldn't do it.

Other times it would not dial automatically. I would try to call a contact while the car is paired and I was listening to the music, but the music would pause as it does when paired properly and making a call but no sound came from my car. You could hear it only thru the iphone speaker or the ear speaker on it. You can't choose to transfer the call to the car even though it shows as an option. When you choose it it check marks it but nothing happens.

I am in sales and I drive around a lot. I can't use my phone anymore while driving. It's illegal and if I have to pick it up to talk and get ticketed, I am taking it to my nearest Apple Store and demand they pay for it.

Or replace my phone with a Windows or Android phone. They don't seem to be having any issues (Other than their terrible operating systems.. But I digress).

Having had an android phone, several of them, don't think for one minute they don't have issues.   They are also susceptible to Malware.

It seems to me Apple has the fix, they just rushed it a bit, which they shouldn't of.  That makes them look bad.  Point taken, you gotta have hands free in your state.  Heck in Ohio it changes from city to city so it's important here too.  Fix it.  Make it available.  I think Monday is long enough.

HI there I have a Audi a7 and my bluetooth is not working properly on iPhone 6 as my iPhone 5s is fine I think it could be the phone. I am seeing apple tomorrow I will let everyone knw what happens.

Somewhere this morning I saw a piece about the IP6 having pairing problems (I think mostly with European products like the Audi, Mercedes, BMW, etc.) I have a Mini Cooper (BMW family) and it won't pair after repeated efforts.  Surprisingly the phone paired immediately with my Range Rover Evoque.  With my previous IP5 S, it worked fine with the Mini.

It's bugs like this that seem like Apple should have caught and fixed while developing the software and hardware of the new phone.

I think you need to look at your iCloud and make sure your old iPhone is no longer listed.  That's what fixed mine.

In my iCloud, it only shows my iPhone 6.

Mine showed my iPhone 5 and 6, both with the same name.  I deleted iPhone 5, un paired  my bluetooth, reset my phone, paired the device, worked fine.

It still doesn't work for me after resetting the phone, the car, the laptop and my brain.

I can make BT calls but it would constantly fail when trying to connect the iphone6 as a BT audio player.

The car recognises the iphone6 but would only allow me to connect it as a phone, not as an audio player.

Even when I connect it via USB it does not recognise the phone.

Everything was fine before iPhone6 ...

I upgraded from a 4S to a 6 Plus and then plagued with trying to get the apps restored via iTunes. Eventually after a day taking advice from the Community I sorted it only to then have this problem with BT on the iPhone 6 Plus on my Mini Cooper. Good news is your advice did the trick for me - after settings/ reset all settings and then reset all network settings. On the next pairing my Mini Cooper BT recognised the iPhone 6 Plus with a different name to the 4S - naming it iPhone1 on the dash and then worked absolutely fine. So reset network settings is the way to go.

i am getting to loath this new iPhone all the problems I have had (last night it was playing up with my Apple TV on Airplay and I resorted to doing an Apple TV upgrade and the progress bar on the update showed SEVEN HOURS to complete the update. First time I have ever said anything like that about my Apple devices.

Clearly the Apple servers have been screwed with all new phone users  trying to install their last update on the old phone to the new phones AT THE SAME TIME as everyone else is updating to IOS8 - absolute madness. Why on earth didn't Apple introduce IOS8 first then when settled introduce the new phones. All because everything is geared to being announced at a Conference  - ie marketing rather then technical needs have ruled the day. They will rue the day they did this.
