Q: iOS 8 Wi-Fi problems

WI-Fi problems on iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display and iPhone 5S after upgrading to iOS 8.

Typical results from OOKLA Speedtest before upgrade: Ping 17 ms, Upload 21 Mbps, Download 4.4 Mbps

Typical results after upgrade: Ping 39 ms, Download 2.9 Mbps, Upload 0.47 Mbps

iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 get 15 Mbps download and 4.4 upload on the same network.

Resetting network settings on the iOS 8 devices did not improve the performance.

Changing band on the router from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz did give me back the speed on all devices.

However the speed occasonally drops on the iOS 8 devices, and the signal strengt can go from full til lost connection without moving the devices.

Also sometimes the Wi-Fi SweetSpots app report 0 mbps when the signal strenght is indicated as full and then suddenly go up to around 58 Mbps again.

It is almost like the device is trying to use cellular network that I do not have on the iPads before it suddenly switches back to Wi-fi nettwork again.

I am thinking about going back to my iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 that is working perfectly until the Wi-Fi issues are resolved.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

Well Apple delete the URL.... Page is now blank... However... I took screen shots of the data.... Sorry again Apple.. And I have the email for you deleting the post... Sorry again Apple...

You certainly should apologize to Apple.  They are enforcing the Terms of Use on a form that they own and pay for.  If you don't like the ToU, find another forum that meets your requirements.

I guess you didn't read the post... And Apple deleted 15 posts who seen it and talked about it?? Why? Could it be they are running the devices at 50% for over three years and don't want users to know? Well I know the truth... So do thousands of others... Sync 1080p file into Apple device with a computer... Delete 720p file... Itunes uses that file and Apple sends it over wifi and streaming by default to all devices after the iphone 4S...

    Because you violated the ToU.

I posted it on many threads... Yet... Nothing..... almost none of the pro's with all the points rushed over to tell me my facts are wrong... i haven't seen one post say my data isn't correct...

There are a number of them by limnos and anypats in your own thread explaining why you're assumptions are incorrect. The reason why you've gotten so little response in any thread you've posted in is because almost no one else is interested. Posting in threads that are not related to your issue does get you some attention but it's going to be all negative. It's also extremely rude to the people who want to discuss their WiFi issues.

And yet like I said. The data is posted on Apple web site... H.264 1080 P 30 frames per second supported starting with the iPhone 4s... I don't see anyone telling me that information is incorrect and that I have made An error. Just because they are making assumptions and then do not double check before they post it is not my fault. Sync the 1080 P file into the Apple product using a computer making sure you delete the 720 P file or iTunes will use that file by default.. The Apple engineer asked me for screenshots to verify file installed in my Apple product on the summary page with my iPhone plug into iTunes showing files in my device then I clicked movies and then right click on the movie installs and it shows that I have in stalled a 1080 P file... I don't see anyone attempting to test and verify that they can't do it and tell me that I'm wrong...

Because no one else cares. Please take this back to your own thread or another relevant thread.

You only hoped... However all the data is posted in black-and-white on the Apple website for you to read... By simply adhering to a simple set of rules.. Test ideas by experimentation and observation... Build on those ideas that pass the test and reject the ones that fail... Follow the evidence wherever it leads and question everything... Except these terms.... And the cosmos is yours... as any engineer knows..

Do you realize that you've probably set an all-time record for quantity of posts pulled in a single thread?

Yea that's true. However Apple deleting the posts to keep the truth from getting out because they see it as off-topic doesn't change the facts...  Dad always said if you're going to do something.... do it right the first time.... Well I think over three years that it's been over looked and was not correctly done the first time... I'm not trying to be a jerk about it I was just trying to let people know what I found out and considering what the issue is.... this makes the Wi-Fi issue look like nothing.. Instead of you guys backing me up and verifying it I can't believe you're fighting me to keep your Device is working at 50% versus 100% and that makes no sense to me... Yet my data is backed up on the Apple website and I didn't make it up and Apple was the one who missed it... I can't make facts not true and Apple missed this... Why didn't anyone post in my thread that I was incorrect with my data? Yes you did say a few users had already posted but they obviously didn't check and verify before they did... Did you check and verify?

No.  They're deleting your posts because you're continually violating the ToU.  That's the facts.

Once again you fail to acknowledge the facts of the post for some reason... You keep finding every reason other than to acknowledge the facts?? You know integrity is when you realize you made a mistake you just say okay and you realize you did something for thought something that kept you from realizing the truth and blocked you but for some reason that's just not going to happen here I guess...

You don't care about facts? This was missed for over three years? And your upset ios 8 broke your wifi how long ago? Every product (even yours) is effected from release of iphone 4S.. iPads and iPods that support 1080p that netflix and itunes still stream 720p default video.. Running at 50% performance -vs- 100% performance 1080 p stream and video file download over wifi....  how many millions in each product affected? You want facts... there they are...

I don't care whether my iPhone streams video in 720 or 1080, no. This thread is not about video streaming. It is about issues with WiFi. Please take this back to your own thread or other threads about video streaming.
