Q: iOS 8 Wi-Fi problems

WI-Fi problems on iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display and iPhone 5S after upgrading to iOS 8.

Typical results from OOKLA Speedtest before upgrade: Ping 17 ms, Upload 21 Mbps, Download 4.4 Mbps

Typical results after upgrade: Ping 39 ms, Download 2.9 Mbps, Upload 0.47 Mbps

iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 get 15 Mbps download and 4.4 upload on the same network.

Resetting network settings on the iOS 8 devices did not improve the performance.

Changing band on the router from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz did give me back the speed on all devices.

However the speed occasonally drops on the iOS 8 devices, and the signal strengt can go from full til lost connection without moving the devices.

Also sometimes the Wi-Fi SweetSpots app report 0 mbps when the signal strenght is indicated as full and then suddenly go up to around 58 Mbps again.

It is almost like the device is trying to use cellular network that I do not have on the iPads before it suddenly switches back to Wi-fi nettwork again.

I am thinking about going back to my iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 that is working perfectly until the Wi-Fi issues are resolved.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

To your best knowledge? Yeah that sounds like someone who tested and verified.

Exactly, that's how I got the knowledge. Thanks!

You got part of that post right which is why when you use and IPv6 connection that's why you get a better connection and faster speeds... why don't you stop making assumptions.... Test and verify it for yourself... Is it that hard for anyone in this for them to find a few drops of integrity and just admit that maybe they made a mistake and try someone's idea who is here to help.. You said you wanted to talk about Wi-Fi issues so I'm here talking about Wi-Fi issues and you don't want to try my ideas.... you just want to insult and say this reason don't work this reason don't work instead of testing it observing what results you see and then post your opinion.... Test ideas by experimentation and observation...

Yea right...  You said to your best knowledge that doesn't sound like someone who said when I tested this myself here are the results I had.... When will anyone in this forum find just one drop of integrity? Wow I like this forum.... It's exciting when you ask for help... Experts who don't know what they're talking about jump all in and start acting like they do know what they are talking about... And then when you catch them in the middle of the lie they don't have the integrity to admit that they don't know what they're talking about... You can try to lie all you want we both know you didnt test it....

I'm sorry but you misinterpreted me and are now proceeding to be insulting. No scientist with any integrity claims 100% infallibility.

See how bald guys post says this is what happened when I change the DNS and this is what happens when I change the DNS back to the default DNS here are my results... Some reason I don't see that in your post.. What I see is to my best knowledge??? What Is that that? Your best knowledge? I don't see you saying this is what happen when I did this and this is what happened when I did this... It's called integrity...

And when did I say I was 100% infallible? Please copy and post that comment that I made... The data that I talked about before... it's posted on the Apple website that the Apple devices are running at 50% from the release of the iPhone 4S... I have proof and the data to back up my statements what about you?Never said once that I was in infallible.... but I have integrity to realize if I made a mistake I try to realize what I was thinking that blocked me from seeing the truth so that I don't make that mistake again... Called learning from your mistake but I can't get anyone to see that...

It's starting to become obvious there's some sort of reading comprehension problem here. I did not say you were 100% infallible. Show me where I did. I was explaining why I had used the phrase, "to the best of my knowledge." I ws saying I wasn't 100% infallible. I hate to tell you this but it's not all about you.

Then post some of this 'proof and data'

    You're all talk, no fact,

Stop waffling and quote it, not in your own words, use the quote tool provided. And quote it all, don't just select the bit that you prefer.

    I posted this:

I don't see that I mentioned you at all in that sentence. As explained, I was referring to myself. I was explaining to you why I used the phrase "to the best of my knowledge" which you took to mean that I hadn't done the experiment at all, which I had.

Okay here is the tech spec page for the iPhone 4S that you apparently refuse to go read and verify... so I will give you a screenshot And the link to the site... http://www.apple.com/lae/iphone-4s/specs/

    image.jpg

Now you see those little black-and-white words in the TV and video section that is about halfway down that says video format supported H.264 1080 P 30 frames per second supported... You wanted facts.... there you go... Tell me I'm wrong....

How is this related to WiFi issues?

Oh you're the scientist? I guess you missed the conversation yesterday where the two other gentleman with all the points were laughing at the scientist because it supposed to be engineer... I think what makes all your boats sink is that someone like me with zero points discovered it and you guys missed it...

You didn't ask for Wi-Fi facts you said post facts? Well so you know if you use the Google fiber IPv6 DNS just so you know IPv6 tunnels down to IPV4... .not sure if you understand that or not but other users have tried it and showed positive results but a few users who say it can't help obviously haven't completely tried all my suggestions by using the Google fiber DNS and running a DNS benchmark on your home computer.. Then I suggest you unplug each one of your Wi-Fi devices one at a time and see if removing one of the devices will fix the problem... Once I removed my AppleTV that was how I figured out I needed to remove it off the Wi-Fi network and get it connected into the system with the Internet cable...
