Q: iOS 8 Wi-Fi problems

WI-Fi problems on iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display and iPhone 5S after upgrading to iOS 8.

Typical results from OOKLA Speedtest before upgrade: Ping 17 ms, Upload 21 Mbps, Download 4.4 Mbps

Typical results after upgrade: Ping 39 ms, Download 2.9 Mbps, Upload 0.47 Mbps

iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 get 15 Mbps download and 4.4 upload on the same network.

Resetting network settings on the iOS 8 devices did not improve the performance.

Changing band on the router from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz did give me back the speed on all devices.

However the speed occasonally drops on the iOS 8 devices, and the signal strengt can go from full til lost connection without moving the devices.

Also sometimes the Wi-Fi SweetSpots app report 0 mbps when the signal strenght is indicated as full and then suddenly go up to around 58 Mbps again.

It is almost like the device is trying to use cellular network that I do not have on the iPads before it suddenly switches back to Wi-fi nettwork again.

I am thinking about going back to my iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 that is working perfectly until the Wi-Fi issues are resolved.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

Are you suggesting that the posters who are saying that it did are making that up?

What makes you correct and them wrong?

Your comments are becoming feeble now, are you tiring?

Ignoring facts may amuse you, but not us.

The likes of csound, mmurray and Philly phan are best ignored. None of them bring anything whatsoever to the conversation. They can't seem to grasp the fact that some people actually are having problems, and my guess is that they have nothing better to do than try to irritate those people. Personally, I find it quite amusing. If anything, they are simply making themselves look daft with some of the ridiculous responses they have posted.

What makes it even better is the fact that Apple techs have acknowledged the fact that there is an issue affecting some users. Kind of makes the trolls arguments somewhat mute, methinks.

No.  We recognize that some persons are having problems.  However, you are completely misdiagnosing the causes of the problems.

So you haven't bothered to read them then.

I noted this before but Apple Engineering called me and stated that they see a high WIFI issue not only with IOS8 but also with Yosemite and they wanted some information from me.  I would not be surprised if the OS issue causing this problem is common between the two.  Granted since not all users have this issue it is more difficult to pin down but just for the record there is an issue for many users according to Apple so we should not argue the point in this forum,.

If Apple have acknowledged there is a problem for some users then hopefully they will come up with a proper solution

Why haven't they told anyone else?

I've been sending "network" logs reports from an add on they installed on my phone for two weeks now..

we'll see if they find a resolution, but I don't expect them to release anything until their fall release.

I'm sure the "high wi-fi issue" is at the top of their agenda.  Shouldn't be much longer now so stand by..

I had no wifi acces issues with IOS7 but since IOS8 arrived I have had big problems which successive updates have failed to fix.

I obviously came to the conclusion that very few people are still experiencing Wi-Fi issues, because this thread originally had a huge number of people complaining about the issue, and now there is practically no one complaining... including myself.  At this point, complaining on this thread is basically pointless and I would suggest that it would be much more beneficial for you contact Apple directly if you are still experiencing a problem.

If I am misinterpreting the current lack of complaints on this thread, all y'all that are still having an issue please feel free to chime in.

Do you have a solution to Apple's wifi mess or do you just like to hear people complain?

I am still having problems, but having found lots of people have the same trouble I cannot see any reason to keep posting that the problem is stlll there

Apple are apparently aware to what point is there in continually moaning?
