Q: iOS 8 Wi-Fi problems

WI-Fi problems on iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display and iPhone 5S after upgrading to iOS 8.

Typical results from OOKLA Speedtest before upgrade: Ping 17 ms, Upload 21 Mbps, Download 4.4 Mbps

Typical results after upgrade: Ping 39 ms, Download 2.9 Mbps, Upload 0.47 Mbps

iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 get 15 Mbps download and 4.4 upload on the same network.

Resetting network settings on the iOS 8 devices did not improve the performance.

Changing band on the router from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz did give me back the speed on all devices.

However the speed occasonally drops on the iOS 8 devices, and the signal strengt can go from full til lost connection without moving the devices.

Also sometimes the Wi-Fi SweetSpots app report 0 mbps when the signal strenght is indicated as full and then suddenly go up to around 58 Mbps again.

It is almost like the device is trying to use cellular network that I do not have on the iPads before it suddenly switches back to Wi-fi nettwork again.

I am thinking about going back to my iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 that is working perfectly until the Wi-Fi issues are resolved.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

Have you actually tried to offer help with this issue, many have, many problems have been solved by that. All you do is supply email addresses to complain to.

No wonder you have a zero reputation.

Yes I have posted quite a lot of information on the ios8.x wi-fi bug. You may not have noticed this as at the time you and you two friends where still claiming there was no bug before you were made to look rather silly by Apples admissions in the ios 8.3 release notes.

As for the email address, well who knows, maybe I'll get a point for helping people for posting that as there does seem to be quite a few people who want to bring the activities of a certain trio to Apples attention :-)

Don't bother to reply as I certainly have no intention of being drawn into any kind of troll debate with you or your two mates.

Link to where you posted a potential or actual cause or cure please.

And then a link to where I said that there was no bug so we can judge the veracity of your allegations, shouldn't be hard for you, after all, you read it so you know where it is.

Noticed how it's strange that two people appear almost simultaneously

It did some good but not enough so far. The first time I reported two individuals using the email address provided in Apple’s Terms of Use Agreement. When we joined this forum we all agreed to the ToU including the two in question. The moderator thanked me and removed over 30 of their posts. The second time I reported three individuals including the first two. The new one has not posted since and the habitual two had about 20 of their posts removed. Some of these were very offensive and in clear violation of the ToU. Unfortunately the habitual two continue to post insulting non-technical comments in violation of the Agreement.

Most of the posters here would like to return this thread to its intended purpose, to post iOS Wi-Fi issues and potential solutions, not insults. Perhaps if many of us start/continue reporting the two offenders we will restore this forum to technical issues. London Lad posted the email address on page 201.

According to one, the only reason his posts were removed were because it was a reply to one of mine. He said "and when yours was removed all the replies to it had to be sacrificed as well. Try to stick to the TOU please."

But none of mine have been removed

And when I said that insulting comments are against the TOU, was told "A Statement of fact is not an insult, even if you think it is."

Of course his bestest buddy immediately comes in with more sarcasm

Seems there is little point reporting as obviously Apple will not take action. He will simply he is stating facts

But I am stating facts. If you disagree that I am post some proofs that I am not.

In the meantime if you stick to the TOU no more of your posts will be removed.

Apple will take action when enough people report the problem. My suggestion to all is to not reply to the two individuals in question, that serves no purpose, just escalates the issue. Report the offensive posts to Apple directly using the email address provided in the ToU Agreement or on page 201 by London Land. When enough of us do this this thread will be restored to its intended purpose, issues and solutions, not insults.

Why don't you offer some solutions then, you'll get points from the grateful posters you helped and you will eventually be able to use the reporting mechanism provided for use by those who have demonstrated their willingness and ability to help others, that is all you need to do.

But instead of helping others you chose another route.

That is untrue, deliberately or by mistake?

    Who can tell anymore.
