Q: iOS 8 Wi-Fi problems

WI-Fi problems on iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display and iPhone 5S after upgrading to iOS 8.

Typical results from OOKLA Speedtest before upgrade: Ping 17 ms, Upload 21 Mbps, Download 4.4 Mbps

Typical results after upgrade: Ping 39 ms, Download 2.9 Mbps, Upload 0.47 Mbps

iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 get 15 Mbps download and 4.4 upload on the same network.

Resetting network settings on the iOS 8 devices did not improve the performance.

Changing band on the router from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz did give me back the speed on all devices.

However the speed occasonally drops on the iOS 8 devices, and the signal strengt can go from full til lost connection without moving the devices.

Also sometimes the Wi-Fi SweetSpots app report 0 mbps when the signal strenght is indicated as full and then suddenly go up to around 58 Mbps again.

It is almost like the device is trying to use cellular network that I do not have on the iPads before it suddenly switches back to Wi-fi nettwork again.

I am thinking about going back to my iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 that is working perfectly until the Wi-Fi issues are resolved.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

When are you going to learn, nobody cares about your points - they mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. I value comments made from the likes of London Lad, Gadget Adam and Wobbly Bob over anything the pair of you say. It matters not whether they have any of these magic life enriching points or not.

I cannot speak for everybody but all I want is to voice bugs being found with iOS8. Personally I have posted feedback to apple too about the many, many different bugs I have found although that is like baging your head against a wall. I also voice on here just in case somebody figures something out or in the hope that Apple take some notice. iOS8 is not a perfect release and we are now upto 8.3.1 and it's not improved greatly. Bugs are mounting and do not appear to being addressed. Even when things come out in Beta testing it seems iOS is just released regardless.

The pair of you bring nothing to this particular thread and from my perspective are just antagonising alot of very frustrated users of iOS 8 who are watching this thread. I just looked at your activity from some other recent threads and you just cannot seem to help yourself.

Then why  did you agree to the terms of use for the site when you had no intention of abiding by them?

So you can publish defamatory and libellous remarks, as you are an expert that is OK by the TOU

But if I ask for proof, that violates the TOU. Well I suppose I should expect that from Apple

(and you still have not replied with the proof of the allegation you made)

Most other posters come here to resolve problems rather than complain.

Yep.  Apple owns this forum and Apple decides how to operate it.  If you don't like it, go elsewhere.

If you don't like what we write or complain about then why don't you go elsewhere. You bring nothing to this thread.

Write whatever you want, most of it gets removed.

Your friend Csound1 moans if people reply to posts not addressed to them, yet you reply to posts addressed to him (I do have trouble telling you apart)

And I also was under the impression that Apple owned the forum & decided how it was run - but it seems I was mistaken as obviously you and Csound1 are the ones who run it

Version 8.3 has affected the wifi on my iPad. For my purposes, it renders the iPad useless. They should at least allow a downgrade in the interim.

iOS 8.3, iOS 8.2... all the same.  No wifi connection on my wife's iPhone 6.  Or it comes and it goes.  In the same room as the router.  Samsung, HP, and Amazon devices all connect with no problem, everywhere in the house.  Her data plan is almost maxed our for the first time.

Is Apple ever going to really fix this?  I tried to convince my wife to drop the iPhone line.  I had a 5S through work that I gave back for an Android phone.  Just upgraded to Lollipop too and it's quite smooth.  Motorola Moto G.  Bigger display than the 6 too.

SAme problems here. IPad is more offline than online when I try to use the Internet. All started with iOS 8. I'm surprised this issue has been ongoing for months on end without anybody fixing it. It should be easy enough to reproduce. It happens both on my connection at home and mobile connection. The iPhone had lots of issues after the software-upgrade, too. I made a thread on this earlier, but it was deleted since somebody considered it not constructive. I sent the same message to Apple support but got no reply. I essentially asked whether I should buy new iPad and iPhone anytime the software is updated because they obviously don't cars about the thousands of dollars I spent on last hear's products. My Macbook Pro, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 Pro, and Surface Pro all work great against the Airport Extreme the iMachines are incapable of maintaining a wifi-connection with.
