Q: Is it me or is the incessant signing into appleid driving everyone crazy when a child asks to approve?

IS it me or is the constant badgering to supply appleid passwords for ask to approve annoying? I mean can there be a grace period set for allowance

Actually most of the complaints here are the exact opposite. Kids buying things in games seems to be the most common.

Sadly, you can't Use iTunes Allowance if you use Family Sharing and have "ask to approve" enabled

But if you trust your child's decisions for 15 minutes, why not trust it all the time? Drop FS and set up an allowance.

Otherwise, you want your cake and eat it too.

I don't mind approving the asking but the constant asking my appleid password... Not to mention the asking of child's appleid password too. It takes 2 entries for child and 1 from parent to initiate the download

the kid enters it first to attempt the download, then they "ask to approve", the parent has to enter password for their appleid to approve then the child is asked for thei appleid again once parent approves. Seems cumbersome. Allowance is prolly best way to go. ***** though cause I only get asked to approve free games so im just banking with no interest with iTunes store $10 min allowance

Maybe it's overkill, but Apple ate 100s of thousands of dollars of unapproved sales to children earlier this year because parents claimed that they didn't realize that their password was good for 15 minutes worth of iTunes buying.

A related question is why Apple imposes such strict restraints on passwords. If you incorrectly enter your password as few as two times, you are required to change your password and it cannot be a password that you used within the last year. I use a different password for every single site that I go to and it is quite annoying to have to keep remembering the Apple password every time with its constraints of upper and lower case and numbers and no consecutive characters. It would be fine if it locked me out temporarily because of the incorrect guesses but it's ridiculous to have me changing the password every time to one that I have not used within the last year. To me,  this is overkill and is very frustrating. It's fine that they want to prevent fraud, but setting such restrictive constraints after a few attempts is making me rethink using Apple products in the future.
