Sep 22, 2014 8:22 PM in response to Surawonby lemarco,I too updated 4s to ios8, and have been getting No Sim Card Installed prompt message all the time. I too only use wifi all the time and no sim installed. But never get this prompt in ios7.
There are many other things that break too:
- stuttering animation
- battery draining
- browser could not open live video (previously ok in ios7).
Hope apple get it fixed.

Sep 24, 2014 2:00 AM in response to lemarcoby Thomas Bosboom,I too have this problem. I suppose I could, as a work-around, get a cheap prepaid SIM with some data on it.
Other solutions would be very welcome.

Oct 2, 2014 12:15 PM in response to Surawonby dtme, ppossibly Apple is trying to force users to get a SIM card. I have no use for one since I use wifi. Would be nice to be able to enjoy my IPAD without this irritation. No one seems to have the fix

Oct 2, 2014 12:38 PM in response to dtmeby Surawon, although this is not idealistic but nowadays i put airplane mode on and wifi mode on, it seems to shun off this message
perhaps it'll work for you too

Oct 4, 2014 10:32 PM in response to Surawonby Swieter,I'm also getting this error on my iPad. I had no trouble in previous iOS. I run my iPad with no sim and with airplane mode enabled and wifi turned on. I'll be looking at some app or browsing online and up pops the error message. Tried rebooting and enabling/disabling airplane mode but no joy.

Oct 4, 2014 10:39 PM in response to Swieterby Alfred DeRose,Turn off Cellular Data in Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data and you should not get the message.

Oct 5, 2014 1:15 PM in response to Surawonby Surawon,I Take what I said back, that was only wishful thinking
for or those who have never had a sim the cellular data settings are greyed out and inaccessible

Oct 5, 2014 4:16 PM in response to Alfred DeRoseby Swieter,I was hopefully this would work, but as pointed out, the setting is greyed out. With Airplane more on or off, I'm not able to enter this setting's area. Maybe I'll have to try a temporary sim swap if my phone card fits just to try this.

Oct 11, 2014 6:54 PM in response to Swieterby Swieter,I took the SIM card out of my iPhone and put it in my iPAD. Then I disabled Airplane Mode and went into the Cellular settings and turned off Cellular Data. I restored Airplane Mode, and enabled Wi-Fi and took the SIM card out. Over one daddy of using the iPad, I 'feel' like I don't get the No SIM card message as much, but I still get it some. So this isn't the whole solution.

Oct 17, 2014 1:11 PM in response to Surawonby ourcore,I solved the issue on my 1st-gen mini (on iOS 8.0.2) by telling Siri to "turn off mobile data" and now it just says "iPad" in the status bar, instead of "No Sim". Hope this helps.
