Q: "macbook pro is not supported"??

I have been trying to pair my new iPhone 6 to my Macbook Pro retina 2013 and have been unsuccessful. iPhone is running IO8 and Mac is running Mac OS 10.10

Yosemite. Mac sees the iPhone 6 which appears on the screen as you can see below. I then click the "Pair" button on the Mac. and it sends the signal to my phone with prompts me to click pair on my device. bot the whole thing does not work. I receive error that says the Mac is not supported. But how can this be since the Macbook Pro I have is so new?    Please Help...

You are running beta software as 10.10 has not yet been released and is in the testing phase. Your terms of agreement were to discuss Yosemite in the Developers Forums, not here.

You cannot "pair" a Mac with an iOS device in the traditional sense. It is not supported.

What are you trying to accomplish by pairing the Mac and the iPhone?

I am having to same issue but with Maverick as my OS. To answer FelipeV's question I use mine to pair as 1.  A personal hotspot  2. To use my iPhone as a remote control for Keynote presentations with my clients.

Yes. But you do not pair it as the user OP is trying to pair it, which I gather is in other to exchange files between the phone and the Mac or vice vera which is not supported.

You do it from the Keynote app, specifically, and you must have the latest versions of KN BOTH on your Mac and iOS devices. The old way of doing it via the "keynote Controller" is not longer supported. Personal Hotspot needs to be supported by the carrier. Not all do. Does yours?

Similar problem here running 10.9.4 and iOS 8, initially connected by blue tooth to act as a hot spot, but when I came to connect via bluetooth as a keynote remote( the security of my firms wifi prevents wifi communication between devices) I now have a generic iPhone connection ( as seen on my mac) and an accessory ( iOS) which is non deletable but automatically connects and reconnects even after disconnecting. The named iPhone is also present and paired but will not connect.

iOS8 problem? I have deleted and reconnected multiple times to no avail
