THIS IS WHAT SOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR ME:

  1. Make sure you deinstalled ALL apple software (iTunes, Bonjour, iCloud)
  2. From the icloudsetup.exe extract the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi (by using "The Unarchiver.app" or "Winrar")
  3. After installing the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi launch the Apple Software Updater and install iCloud from the selection menu you will get.
  4. After you rebooted the system (the updater will tell you), you will be able to launch iCloud as you wished.
  5. maybe you have to repair the iCloud installation in Apps & Features but this will also be told by the iCloud.app it self if there is need for.

New PC running windows 10 pro x64. never had any apple apps on it, and yet still can't load itunes or icloud. due to aforementioned and so-called windows installer prob.

Nothing so far has worked, and so am stuck in limbo. time for Apple to get on with it and fix the problem I think.

Tell you what, at least MS produce apps that can be actually downloaded and actually work.

Apple might want to reflect on the fact my iphone is coming up for renewal, and my ipad in 6 months- and it's a fair bet that I won't be picking Apple products.

None of the above worked for me. Here's what did. Some steps are probably unnecessary, but omit at your own peril.

1. Download CCleaner

2. Sign out of iCloud

3. Uninstall iCloud using ccleaner

4. Restart

5. Run fix registry errors on CCleaner

6. Restart

7. Uninstall all other apple services, including Apple Application Support, both x64 and x86, iTunes, and QuickTime using CCleaner

8. Restart

9. Run fix registry errors on ccleaner

10. Delete these folders if they're there:

- Program Files (x86) -> Common Files -> Apple

- Program Files -> Common Files -> Apple

11. Restart

12. Download and install iCloud again

Same issue. However I was able to install in Windows 8 PC with no issues. Windows 7, a different deal. I've tried everything. I'm curious to see if ant of you are running Outlook 2010. I don't sync my email to iCloud but I know when iCloud sets up if it sees Outlook it automatically adds itself as a new account (this happened in my Win 8 PC w/Outlkook 2013.

Creating new Outlook profile didn't help. Uninstalling iTunes / iCloud (v3.1) didn't help. Running as local admin didn't help. Clearing registry entries manually didn't help. Running the Microsoft Fix it web deal didn't help. So while the message states it's an installer issue, I suspect Apple is trying to access or create something as part of the packager and it either doesn't find it in the PC or can't add it. MSI packages (Microsoft Software Installer) run with admin privilidge usually but right-clicking and "Runa as Administrator" doesn't help any ways. APPLE MUST ADDRESS THIS SOON>

I have 2 machines; Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and Windows 8.1. No problems with the 8.1 machine, but same problem with the 7 machine. I do sync my Outlook 2010 with my IPhone and IPad. I have AppleCare and called and spoke with 2 different people. It was the most unsatisfactory experience that I have ever had with them. They insisted that it was my Windows installer which is nearly impossible given the facts. I suspect that you will need this new ICloud version to sync with IOS 8. I would suggest that you don't update your devices to IOS 8 until Apple fixes this problem and you can successfully install this new version..

My problems exist on a WIndows 8.1, 64 Bit. Also talked to Apple and had the same unsatisfactory experience, that cinsist of:

1. General trouble shooting interventions (switching off the fire wall, trying it in a local account, re-installing, etc.) that are used everywhere in the 'first line of defense' of helpdesksif where specific understanding of the problem is absentt. Time consuming and in my experience 9 out of 10 times without results and ususally already done by me - and I am sure by many other experienced customers - anyway.

2, When it doesn't work point at the customer or a third party. Microsoft in this case.

Well, called Microsoft too, and they argued:

1. The error mesage about the wIndows installer package does not relate to the windows installer within windows (it should have a number to point at that), but to the window installer part of the iCloud upgrade, and,

2. If installing other programs show now problems than it is highly unlikely that there is seomething wrong with the windows installer (which was litereally what I said to the not so caringApple employee of AppleCare.

If I have other news. I will share it..

This worked for me...

remove the old icloud software

remove the files in c:\program files\ common files\apple\internet services (not all files will deleted)

remove the files in c:\program files(x86)\ common files\apple\internet services (not all files will deleted)

Re-install iCloud 3.1

Run apple software update

Presto icloud 4 installed successfully
