Q: iPhone 6 slow to zero data on wifi

I have set up 2 iPhone 6's and both when connected to wifi are pulling less than 1mb download and upload.

I have run the same speed test on my old iPhone 5 and it gets 25mb download and 15 upload.

All 3 phones are connected to the same wifi and sitting right next to each other when the test is run.

Does anyone have the same wifi problems or have any suggestions?

iPhone 6, iOS 8

I had the same problem and so did my wife's phone... super slow....

    ***Reset all Settings.***

    That fixed it for me.

Your data will be there, but putting all the settings back is a little bit of a pain.

Maybe the common issue here is that we all restored from a backup of old phone? Both our phones were restored backups of our 4S.

If I would've really thought it through I would have done a backup of the iphone 6 right before the reset in order to just go right back and restore to see if it would hold after restore too... but alas, I did not.  But you can...

Now I've run several speed tests and I'm hitting 20Mpbs vs 1-5Mpbs before the Reset.

    Hmm. I'm afraid not.

Thats what did the trick for me so far.

Resetting Network settings did nothing, but Reset All and poof, back to good speedy wifi

I tried resetting all network setting, resetting all setting, restoring from a back up, and restoring as a new iPhone. In every case wifi performance improves for a few minutes and then goes back to being unusable. This is incredibly frustrating considering every other device in the house--2 macs, iPhone 4s, apple tv, iPad--have no trouble.

Hopefully they get it sorted out. I went in expecting some issues but it's not going to work out if it's dodgy on wifi and unusable.

Hope Apple solves the issue with WEP with the next release.

Avoid using WEP it isn't secure.  Here is what wiipedia says on the subject.

try this query to see why:

    crack wep

Switching to WPA/WPA2 fixed this issue for me.

I'm using the iPhone 5s and iPad mini with retina and I had the same issue with wifi on my iPhone 5s. I was able to solve this issue by SWITCHING OFF CELLULAR DATA by going to SETTINGS > CELLULAR. I figured the problem was related to cellular data as my iPad mini (wifi only) didn't have any wifi issues.

My guess is that iOS 8 has a few bugs with juggling between internet connections between cellular data and wifi due to new iOS 8 features such as continuity (which allows phone calls and text messaging to be made/received via iPad and MacBook) and VoLTE (which allows phone calls to be made via wifi and switch to cellular data seamlessly).

So my suggestion is to switch off cellular data whenever you're connected to wifi until Apple releases an update to solve this issue. I hope this helps anyone who reads this as it has helped me.

This worked for me on my iPhone 6 (128, grey), however I'm still getting inconsistent WiFi speeds and absolutely terrible LTE speeds.

My max LTE (AT&T, SF) speed has been 0.46mbps down and 0.48mbps up, consistently.

The LTE speeds are both at home and at work and consistent throughout the day.

    Hopefully this gets addressed soon

I have the same issue and if apple doesn't fix this soon I'm done with them. the speeds seem to be ok for a while but then it goes down again. At my job the wifi works great but for my home router it 's terrible. my home internet is fine, all my other devices run perfect, but the IP6 wifi is terrible!
