Hey IOSAssistance, I know there is a non-jailbreak method-- I don't have it and I don't know if it will work with iOS 8. Illaass and a few others have posted the link. But Philly is so very right! The accuracy is anything but. Depending on current app and how hard the iPod is working the percent will jump wildly and make you nuts if you watch it. example: say when at rest, sleep mode your iPod displays 90%, start playing an online video game, it drops to 65%, stop the game and and start listening to music and it shows 75%, etc. The battery meter on an iPod calculates drain rate based on current power consumption, so the percentage jumps around. Plus, displaying percentage increases the drain on the battery. Hope this helps, Cheers.

1. Locally backup your iPod touch to iTunes.

2. Download and install iBackupBot Ver.5.2.3 for your computer. http://www.icopybot.com/itunes-backup-manager.htm

3. Open it and find your backup that you just made.

4. Click system files and search "springboard" OR go to "HomeDomain/Library/Preferences/" to find "com.apple.springboard.plist."

5. Open it (click cancel when message comes up) and right under <dict> add this (make sure you tab it like this)

<key>SBShowBatteryLevel</key>

<true/>

-This means that the Battery percentage will be added and "true" means this feature will be enabled.

6. Save the file and close it.

7. Open iTunes again and restore using the backup that you edited using iBackupBot.

8. Wait a few minutes and the battery percentage should appear upon boot after completing restoration.
