iPhone 6 loud static sound when recording video

When I record a video on my iphone 6 and play it all I hear is a terrible loud static sound. ruined the video of my daughters second birthday blowing out her cake candles and singing to her. We can't hear anything but static. Every video I have made has the same problem.

Thanks for the reply, I know that the back mic is making my problems. It’s really funny that mic is working properly when I am using Viber or WhatsApp video call, but when I take a live photo or video here we go again, and that occurs after the latest update. Totally crazy, I really believe that’s a software issue not the hardware, because if it was a hardware problem the mic would never work properly.

I will this days visit the seller where I bought the phone and demand the service for it. I am really loosing my nerves on this problem. Also sometimes people with whom I am talking they say that they hear me very bad, often they don’t hear anything. This is really starting to be frustrating. Thanks god I am from Europe and our law obligates the seller for 2 year warranty.

Had exactly the same problem. Front mike failed after Genius Bar people did a diagnostic. What this forum fails to mention is if one mike fails, it has a noise cancelling mechanism which in turn makes all mikes fail (there are 3) for loud music etc and all you get is hissing. They replaced the front under warranty and hopefully this now sort sthe problem.

Hey, did you resolve your issue and how? I am having a same problems with my 6s plus, especially after the latest update 11.0.3, every sound in video and live photo is with static noise. I tried everything from the list and also this problem only occurs when I use the camera, it’s working on speakerphone call, on everything else but not on the videos and photos.

I had this issue mate. I had the protective plastic cover on my iPhone that was from the packaging (do you?). I just called up local apple and they told me to take it off and try recording. unlike other iPhones the protective plastic hinders the mic. When i removed IT WORKED IMMEDIATELY! or call them they'll give you steps

I just discovered this problem myself. I have the iPhone 6+ and this didn't happen before because I recorded at a concert and everything was fine. Last night I was at the Madonna concert at the Forum and I was taking video. I didn't know that the sound wasn't recording, only loud static, until I got home. The funny thing is, is that at the beginning it did pick up a second or two of audio and then it went to static.

My battery was in the red and went into low power mode so I wondered if that was the reason? Has anyone figured out what happened?

After I recharged my phone I recorded video in my room and the video and sound was fine. I'd like to know what happened?

I Have intermittently had this problem with my iPhone 5s since I upgraded to iOS 9. I recorded a video of my daughter giving a reading today, and when I went to play it back I got that awful static sound. Playing music or anything same thing. In the past it has resolved on its own, but this time I rebooted the phone and it fixed it. The video recorded the audio just fine, so when I played back the video again It was fine. I'm wondering, though, if this is a problem with the iOS.
