Q: No SIM card installed keeps popping up

I have been using my wifi/cellular iPad mini without a SIM card for the last eight months without a problem. I 'upgraged' to os8 a couple of days ago and now I get a pop up telling me there's no SIM card installed every few minutes. It popped up twice whilst trying to type this message. I have looked everywhere in settings for a way to disable it, thinking that perhaps certain apps were prompting it. Will I have to put a sim card to avoid this? I was told when I bought it, that without a SIM card it would be just like a wifi only ipad. or will I have to reset it to factory settings and load everything again? Thanks in advance.

You are not trying to help, you are just here for your ego. We've all read about the SIM workaround before you started preaching on your free time.

Now you even start accusing everyone on this forum of wasting money to buy the cellular version. Only those who appear to agree with you are 'sane and reasonable' ? yes, that's typical.

So, stop it, and avoid any further comment on other's choices and reasons. This is not your playground. You had something to say, you have told it over and over and over, your way. That's enough.

    Take care.

No, I'm absolutely certain MANY people who don't agree with me are sane and reasonable. You're just not one of them.

Of course, I can't be as 'sane' and 'reasonable' as you are, these are special gifts, as your arrogance.

    Bless you.

MMine did this too. After reading a bunch of forums, I tried turning it onto airplane mode for 20 seconds then when I turn it off the cellular data service came back. It's not a permanent fix, but untill Apple sorts this ios8 stuff out, it'll do for now.

    HOpe this helps

    Some general observations:

Whilst it isn't the purist's answer, I have inserted a SIM card and this has solved the problem completely. Completely, in the sense that I no longer get the very annoying NO SIM CARD INSERTED notification on my Ipad3. However, this was not an issue prior to the IOS 8 upgrade. Apple should be able to solve this problem without having to insert a Sim card as the solution.

Furthermore, I will NOT be upgrading my iPhone 4s to iOS 8...because the upgrade to 7.1.2 has resulted in decreased efficiency and I won't diminish performance further through an upgrade to 8. I am comforted by the fact that this opinion is shared by many fellow bloggers in other forums!

Until a fix comes from Apple, in the words of Molly Meldrum "do yourself a favour and insert a Sim card.

    Good Luck

Can't say for sure, but I guess that won't work.
Thanks to Siri, my Cellular is turned off. Still the message pops up all the time.

I guess we are ***ed until this actually gets resolved by youknowwho :-(

    Hello,

I have the same issue with my iPad, 4th Gen w/latest iO8 installed.  I have an actual SIM card because when I initially bought my iPad, I got the one with cellular service and even with an actual SIM card, I still get the "No SIM card installed" popup.  I've had to reset my network, only for it to work for a little while and then the popup happens again.

I have tried a few of the suggestions y'all have suggested, one of them has worked for me for at least the last 24 hrS. Unfortunately, I'm not sure which one it was! I think Facebook may be the key, I went to FB settings- Apps- Logged in through Facebook- then I individually changed every app to (Sharing only with me) and made sure they didn't have access to share my info -(songs I listen to, photos, etc).  I did the airplane mode @ 10 times off and on, I had Siri turn off Cellular Data, and I made sure that no Apps were sset to use Cellular data. If I think of anything else I will let yall know!

Neat idea, telling Siri to turn off mobile data. That seems to have worked for me. Thanks!
