iOS 8 Calendar on iPhone showing GMT times for new events.

After speaking with Apple Support at length in Dec., we determined in was not the IOS Calendar but rather my Google calendar. Google has since fixed this issue, as evident in my recent dates not having any GMT listing in my IOS Calendar. But still, my older dates all had the GMT time. I stumbled on a solution, other than going into each date and editing all.

FIrst, make sure your Google calendar is synced. Then go to you iPhone or iPad's Setting-->Mail, Contacts, Calendars. There unders Calendars, scroll down to "Sync." Most people will have it set to "All Events," but change it to say "Events 2 Weeks Back." Check your IOS Calendar -- yes, it will show only 2-weeks worth of events, but the GMT listing will be gone. Then go back into Settings--> Mail Contacts, Calendars and changed the "Sync" to say "Events 3 Months Back." Keep checking your IOS Calendar and then changing your "Sync" until you have Sync "All Events." All the GMT references should be gone.

I Do hope this helps. I was so relieved to finally have my IOS Calendar back to normal.

KarnFar being it has been well documented as an Apple bug and it seems you have not read the thread at all even a few pages back to see that other people who don't use Google still have the problem. Just because Apple support blames Google for the problem that doesn't make it true. I was going to stay on the thread to see Apples final fix in 8.2 but with people like you still posting inaccurate information I just can't take it anymore and need to leave this thread. Anyone like me who is just using Google and had Google fix the Apple bug should just leave the thread to avoid these types of inaccurate postings.

I found a solution and wanted to help others like me with the problem of GMT showing up in the IOS Calendar. If it doesn't work for you, so sorry. Maybe you should call Apple and stay on phone for an hour. Or like you suggested, maybe you should just leave this thread and live with GMT, wherever you may be.

I see that you like me learned that if you even dare to express an opinion that maybe, just maybe, it was not an Apple bug you come immediately under fire. Amazing.

@backgammoner @karnfar Your information is appreciated and is possibly helpful for those using Google. The frustration comes when people claim (as Kamfar did) "we determined that it was not the IOS calendar but rather my Google calendar". That incorrect assertion ignores the dozens and dozens of posts on this thread where people who never ever use Google for anything have the same exact GMT "problem" or "bug". When people using exchange servers have the exact same problem it can't be a "google calendar issue". It IS an Apple issue but Google has (per a number of sources) done a work around on their end to help their Google customers. That's terrific!! Well done Google!! But the "bug" persists for everyone else not using Google.

My point exactly, backgammoner. IOS Calendar was updated with IOS 8. Google's calendar was still using parameters of IOS 7. When Google got on board with the new IOS and its "work arounds," the problem of GMT disappeared except for past events. I am not laying blame to any company. There are always issues with 3rd party apps with an Apple update, but as with the Google calendar, other calendar apps may have the same issue dealing with the new IOS. Either way the solution I found works when you have Google and Apple calendars on the same device. I only wish it would work for other calendar apps. I wrote my post not "blame" Google, but rather offer a solution that worked for me.

@KarnFar, I argued exactly the same point few days ago. Maybe Microsoft needs to do something on their side. But it is all maybes, we don't really know who did what, and why, and most likely will never know. All I got back when I made the argument was emotional feedback. I am sorry the problem still persists to those using Exchange, there are even few posts by folks using Google who say they still have the issue.

What would really help is for Apple to be vocal and make a statement on what is going on, their bug or not, it does not matter since it manifests itself on their devices with their OS.

• There have been widespread media reports that this is a BUG in iOS
• Apple still refuses to acknowledge it is a bug in iOS
• As of a week ago, Google implemented a back-end change (documented in the media as well) and the bug is gone for Google users only, but persists for Exchange users.
• iOS 8.2 Beta release notes indicate that this bug is fixed in the most recent beta (release 5)
• As of today, "normal" Apple users running 8.1.x and syncing to Exchange continue to experience this bug
• As of today, "developer" Apple users running 8.2 Beta R5 confirm that this bug is fixed when syncing to Exchange

If this is not bug in iOS, then how did Apple manage to fix it for Exchange users in iOS 8.2? Exchange clearly didn't do anything on their end because users on 8.1.x still have the bug. Yet on the very same day developers running 8.2 beta don't have it. These aren't "theories" or "conjecture" these are confirmable facts.

Despite the above, which anyone can confirm independently, Backgammon will come on here and argue that there's no way anyone can say this is a bug in iOS. Even though the above set of facts is only possible if this is due to a bug in iOS 8. Then he'll accuse you of persecuting him.

^^ That's the one thing you have been consistently right about and I agree with you 100%.

@KarnFar: I think your post is helpful as to providing a method for people to fix previous appointments that were messed up by Apple's bug. I agree with bcutty that it is unhelpful and misleading to state that "this problem was due to Google Calendar." The fact that this bug persists for everyone OTHER THAN Google users, sort of confirms that it is Google who changed something on their back end. Exchange users still have the bug in 8.1.x but Apple developers running 8.2 on the very same day, and syncing to Exchange, don't have it. How can that be true if the bug isn't generated by code present in iOS 8.1.x that has now been fixed in iOS 8.2?
