Q: iOS 8 Calendar on iPhone showing GMT times for new events.

Actually I saw this bug with a client that had nothing to do with iOS a program that shared its appointments to the users google apps calendars all 10 of those users on the google side showed GMT for the time zone. these people did not have their calendar shared with any iOS device.

If I add a calendar event in my Exchange calendar, it shows up in my iPhone with the correct Eastern time zone. When I add a calendar event in iCal, it shows up in my iPhone with the correct Eastern timezone but like everyone else here, either adds CST or GMT. It's annoying. BUT, if I open my Exchange calendar and open one of these affected calendar events and click save, the CST or GMT on my iPhone disappears. So this ONLY happens from events created in my iCal. Once in a blue moon it won't happen but 99% of the time it does.

My issue started with IOS 8 also.  Google Calendar is my go between for syncing Outlook and my iPhone, and has been for over 2 years.  Now with IOS 8, an appointment entered into either Outlook or my iPhone displays the GMT issue on the iPhone.  However, if I enter an appointment in Google calendar the GMT issue does not occur on my iPhone.

It amazes me how many people log into an issue thread like this and reply with, "I'm having the same issue..." then proceed to explain how they are having the exact same problem. News flash...THIS DOES NOT HELP ANYONE trying to get to a solution. It just wastes their time by having to weed through 10 pages of "I have that problem too..." replies. We can all assume that you have the problem or you probably wouldn't be on this website. Nobody cares if you have the same problem. People are just looking for a solution.

I am really NOT trying to be as *** here. I am merely trying to ask people not to do this because it is VERY annoying and wastes people's time.

Has anyone tried to get in touch with Google.  I had no success.  Was on hold for 90 minutes.

It's not a Google issue so I would not waste time holding for them.

After talking to the supervisor at Apple, he assured me that it is not their problem and that certain bluetooths and Google need to go one step forward to sync with the new IOS8.  Do you know differently?

One of the reasons I think Chevy is way out of line is that when many people state their specific experiences in a detailed manner, we might find a clue to help us. In my experience with this issue, Google is not involved at all and it still happens to me. So that makes me conclude that it is not a Google specific issue. In my case, the entries created on iCal are what causes the issue for me, and not on my Exchange calendar. So I have to believe it is in fact an Apple problem.I just keep updating my OSX and iPhone in the hope it will be corrected.

@rick287:  Let me ask you this....  The fact that a guy is telling you that this issue has something to do with "Bluetooth" doesn't indicate to you that perhaps he has no idea what he is talking about?  Calendar synchronization over the internet with Google, Exchange, Etc. does not have anything to do with Bluetooth.  Did this guy give you any explanation if...since he knows for certain this is due to "Bluetooth and Google needing to catch up to iOS 8" why users that don't use either of those things (I don't sync my calendar using Bluetooth or any Google services...I use Exchange) are experiencing the same bug?

To answer your question...yes I know differently.  My Exchange host, AppRiver has 100% confirmed this bug is generated by iOS 8.  They did this looking at raw server data and testing multiple equipment and account configurations.  Here's an article about it:  http://blog.appriver.com/2014/12/ios-8-calendar-events-display-dual-time-zones/ .  Also, we have written confirmation from Enterprise and Engineering technical support at Apple that they too have confirmed this is a bug in iOS 8.

It is pretty much common knowledge that it takes Herculean effort to get Apple to acknowledge when there is a problem with any of their software or products.  It seems like their employees are trained that step one dealing with any customer problem is to blame any other services or software used by the customer and to assure the customer that this can't possibly be an Apple generated issue.  I swear, if you are standing in an elevator with only one other person, and that other person is an Apple employee, and all of a sudden it starts to stink in there, they will assure you that it is YOU who passed gas....

Thank you OkPanky.  I was not trying to confuse the issue.  I was just pointing out that I also had the GMT issue but in a different manner than some others.  IOS 8 is the common thread.  As a matter of fact, as I stated in my post, when I enter an appointment in Google Calendar there is no GMT issue on my iPhone when that appointment syncs with it.  The GMT issue only occurs when the appointment is entered either on my iPhone or in Outlook.  So it would appear that Google Calendar does not cause the problem.

Rocky, no sweat. It's interesting to me that if I enter something on my iPhone, the CST or GMT does not happen, ONLY when I enter in iCal.

Thanks for the input.  I passed this on to the supervisor from Apple who I talked to.  He had sent me an email with an attachment on how to possibly fix the problem and that attachment came from apple discussion group.  What an idiot, like he must think that I don't know about the forum.  I can only wait to the fix from Apple at this point and I did put in a complaint via email, as well.
