Dec 12, 2014 3:11 PM in response to OkPankyby rockyroad50,I wonder if it has something to do with how the mail, contacts, and calendar account was set up on the iPhone. My account is set up as a Google account, I used to be able to set it up as an exchange account, but I can't do that any more. Is yours set up as a Google account or an Exchange account?

Dec 12, 2014 3:14 PM in response to rockyroad50by rick287,Mine is set up as Google. I don't use my Google calendar on my PC only on my phone. So I don't know if there is a problem on the PC. Others have mentioned that it is not a problem, only when you sync I guess.

Dec 12, 2014 3:16 PM in response to rick287by JG in SB,Hey rick287,
You are welcome. However, please do not just wait for a fix from Apple. If you have not already done so, please submit a bug report here:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Posting in the forum is far less likely to get Apple to make this a priority than if they receive multiple reports from users.
Nearly 37,000 people have viewed this thread as of today. If even 1% of those people simply click the above link and report this, I think we could be sure this will get addressed sooner than later.

Dec 12, 2014 3:27 PM in response to OkPankyby Chevy2222,The reason your feelings are hurt is because you are one of the people that I am referring to. In case you missed it, I'm referring to those who simply state they have the same problem. If someone says they have the same problem but go on to add valuable information are contributing in a positive way. If you cannot understand that those who reply here to say they are having the same problem are wasting everyone's time, then you are part of the problem.
You can insult me if that makes you feel better, but I will not waste another character space here explaining it to you. So don't be disappointed when I don't respond to your next comment directed toward me. That would be wasting everyone's time which I will not do anymore by explaining this. So go grab yourself a Hot Pocket and heat it up in the microwave I'm sure your Mom bought for you so you never have to leave her basement...and calm yourself.

Dec 12, 2014 3:38 PM in response to Chevy2222by OkPanky,Chevy baby, I looked up your one other post, back in June. Almost a carbon copy of your rant here. You have a problem boy. Please go away, you are the one who is a waste of time. As far as me and my Mother making me a Hot Pocket, that's pretty funny stuff. However, I have no doubt I am a much more accomplished and successful man, in my business life and family life than you will ever be. It's easy to tell from the way you write. I feel sorry for you. Oh, and what have you contributed to this issue? Hmmm, let me think.... oh, absolutely nothing. Done with you now. Go back under that rock.

Dec 12, 2014 6:24 PM in response to JG in SBby DBD12345,Hey JG, thanks for posting the link from AppRiver. Hopefully, Apple will give this issue the attention, coming from a company and documented as an official blog entry (fingers crossed) instead of just a "bunch of users" complaining. Also, put in my bug report as well.

Dec 12, 2014 7:17 PM in response to James Barberby BarbRaff,Read all the posts. Not sure if this helps but after noticing a slight delay after adding an event of the GMT line being added. So to isolate my iphone I turned Airplane Mode on and then added another event, there was no GMT line. But I then turned Airplane Mode off and the GMT line appeared.
My problem is only adding appointments on my IPhone 6 running IOS 8.1.2. My Ipad and Mac work fine.

Dec 12, 2014 9:59 PM in response to James Barberby zestywoo,Apparently this is an "emerging" issue when I spoke to apple people. They know about it, but right now, their only suggestion is to restore factory settings, which I'm resistant to, because I don't want to lose all of my old text messages and don't know which 3rd party app would be best to save all of my messages. The guy I spoke to suggested taking screen shots of all of my old messages before restoring factory settings, which he agreed is pretty stupid. But Apple hasn't made it possible for us to save old text messages and iMessages in an efficient way....yet.
I'm so annoyed by this because whenever I fix the GMT issue by editing the event, it pushes me to a day ahead and sometimes I get it wrong and it's on the wrong day. I don't like how this affects my business activities especially - important meetings! Grrr. Not happy. Grumble grumble grumble.
I wish Apple would officially respond to any post here so we don't feel so abandoned by them!

Dec 12, 2014 10:09 PM in response to zestywooby JG in SB,@zestywoo: DO NOT RESET YOUR PHONE!! I tried that, and it does not fix this issue. I even had Apple completely wipe both my iPhone and iPad in my attempts to "prove" that this issue is actually an iOS issue and was not being caused by something I had installed on one of my Apple devices. I posted about this earlier in the thread. I believe others have also tried resets and factory restores and confirmed these do not resolve the bug.
The reason a reset does not resolve this is because the buggy code is in the iOS operating system itself. When you reset (or do a complete factory re-image on) your phone, you are just putting a fresh and clean version of the buggy code right back on it......and then you have to spend a bunch of time setting up the phone again. It is incredibly irritating that Apple is so quick to suggest that users do this.
Other users have confirmed above that even a brand spankin' new iOS device, that has just been removed from its shrink-wrapped box at the Apple store, will exhibit this bug when it is synced to the subscribed calendar account.
We are all stuck dealing with this until Apple fixes it. Resetting your phone is a total waste of your time and effort.
I am actually thrilled to hear Apple told you this is an "emerging issue," because for months now, they have been telling everyone that it is a "feature" of iOS!! That's progress!!!!

Dec 13, 2014 5:30 AM in response to James Barberby abubasim66,I use Google calendar on my iPod Touch 4 (iOS 6.1.6) and an iPod Touch 5 and an iPhone 5s, both with iOS 8.1.2.
If I create a new calendar event, it is correctly shown on the old iPod. Viewing the same calendar entry on the new iPod or the iPhone, it's shown as GMT.
I restored the iPod Touch 5 to factory settings - still the same problem.
I only have this problem with the Google calendar. The iCloud calendar and a calendar provided via IBM Notes Traveler (Exchange sync) both show entries correctly with the local time.

Dec 13, 2014 9:09 AM in response to JG in SBby refractor,Hey, could you post some boilerplate text that generally describes this problem? That way everyone could use that same text when reporting the issue to the feedback link here:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
FYI to everyone here, this is clearly an iOS bug that can't be resolved until Apple fixes this. Live with it until then.

Dec 13, 2014 4:35 PM in response to refractorby JG in SB,Good idea refractor. Below...in between the lines, is boilerplate text that can be copied and submitted to Apple.....
_________________
When I create a calendar event on my iPhone running iOS 8.x, the event looks correct on my iPhone, but when it syncs to any of my other iOS 8 devices it shows a different ??INSERT YOUR TIME ZONE?? time zone time in parentheses on the appointment. If I open the appointment to edit it, the time is actually in ??INSERT THE TIME ZONE THAT SHOWS UP?? time zone even though I created it in the ??INSERT YOUR TIME ZONE?? time zone.
I sync my iOS 8 devices using ??INSERT YOUR CALNEDAR SERVICE (Google Calendar,Exchange etc.)??. If I create an appointment using anything other than an iOS 8 device (for example using the web browser on my computer) the appointments sync to all my iOS 8 devices and do not transpose to ??INSERT THE TIME ZONE THAT SHOWS UP??. If I edit or modify a previously correct appointment on any iOS 8 device, it then transposes to ??INSERT THE TIME ZONE THAT SHOWS UP?? when any of my other iOS 8 devices receive it from the subscribed calendar server.
Turning "time Zone Override" on or off does not fix this issue. In fact turning that on or off does not appear to do anything.
I have read about this in an extensive thread on the Apple Community Support forums. Many other users are experiencing this identical bug...or similar versions of it. Several users have completely wiped their devices and had fresh install of iOS 8.x put back on at the Apple Store and this does not resolve the issue. It is happening to people using many different subscribed calendar services and different providers. The single common variable to everyone that has this bug is that they are running iOS 8. Nearly 40,000 people have viewed this discussion thread....which confirms this is a widespread issue that is affecting thousands of iOS users.
This is a major bug that makes a core functionality of iOS devices practically unusable. Please make this a high priority and fix it in the next iOS update.
