Jan 3, 2015 7:31 AM in response to Angelitosby keyhole,Angelitos- This actually does work although you do have to add another two steps. Even so, it's not too much trouble for now and worth it in order to not have to deal with seeing all the GMT times and the time changes that come along with it. The best and easiest temporary fix posted yet. Thanks.

Jan 3, 2015 8:08 AM in response to minnow26by keyhole,The temporary solution using the on off all day switch is actually not that complicated once you get used to it. It is not perfect nor what we would like, but it is better than anything that's been suggested so far.

Jan 3, 2015 8:15 AM in response to keyholeby keyhole,I was wrong on the post to Angelinos. I tried this particular way and then the on/off all day switch and time change as otherwise suggested and found the on/off switch change to be the actual easiest temporary fix. I wrote the first post a little too soon. Like I said, after trying both methods for a period of time, it is now apparent- to me at least- that the on/off all day switch is the simplest work around and you will get used to it rather quickly.

Jan 3, 2015 8:16 AM in response to JG in SBby jriemslag,Apple apparently is aware of the issue and working it. But with no haste or sense of urgency. A lot of folks are now diverting to iCloud which does not have this issue. So, all non-Apple services will have this GMT issue untill a fix is found and programmed. Once the fix is available, you will just need to disable your calendar function under settings and synchronize your device once. After that, re-enable your calendar function of the non-Apple service and synch again. All will then be fixed. Now let's hope Apple fixes this fast. I have already had several appointments messed up due to this issue................ :-(

Jan 3, 2015 9:06 AM in response to James Barberby abubasim66,This has maybe already been mentioned in this thread but a quicker alternative to selecting All Day and then clearing this and adjusting the time again is to select Repeat -> Every Day. Then wait a few moments for the event to synced with your Google calendar before doing Edit -> Repeat -> Never.
But this seems to provoke another bug in the iOS Calendar app; very often the app hangs when I click Add to save the entry then the app closing after a while.
Another point to note is that when creating a repeating event it saves the local time zone in the event. This may be the reason why it doesn't 'flip over' to GMT when changing the event to a single event.
-
Jan 3, 2015 9:05 AM in response to abubasim66by kb122512,abubasim66- that is the best workaround so far. I was doing the repeat everyday, and then setting end date to the same day as the appt. and that works too. But the extra step was driving me crazy. Thanks!

Jan 3, 2015 9:08 AM in response to kb122512by abubasim66,Thanks, but I suspect you may also see the same bug with this procedure: the calendar app hanging and then closing either when saving the repeating event or saving after removing the repetition. This happens on about every two or three entries I create.

Jan 3, 2015 7:25 PM in response to James Barberby Wambolini,I finally figured out how to fix this and had to come back and post the fix!
Go into your Gmail calendar via the web. Open the meeting, select event details to open the details up. On the expanded meeting screen, click on the meeting time at the top left. You will see that it expands out the start and end, and you will see an option to the right for "Time Zone". Click on that; it should default to the time zone in your Settings (which I presume will be correct) and select Done. Then choose Save.
Once you iPhone refreshes, the GMT other time disappears. Voila! So glad I figured out the fix.

Jan 3, 2015 8:41 PM in response to Wamboliniby keyhole,Not to burst your bubble, appreciate the attempt. But there never was a problem entering an event from the gmail website itself. Your fix does change the GMT issue if you go to every event you created from your IPhone and then go back to the gmail website and use your fix on each event. It still does nothing, that I see, to fix the issue of the GMT being on the events created ON the iPhone. Thanks but either we still have a bunch of extra steps to do in order to create a fix or I'm not following your steps correctly for a one time fix. The issue is figuring out how to enter an event from your iPhone and having no GMT at all.

Jan 3, 2015 9:37 PM in response to James Barberby zycc,Hi everyone,
I have read through almost every thread in this post. I just want to say that the same issue is happening to me. Problem only occurs with Gmail. Absolutely no problem with Hotmail accounts regardless whether timezone override is "on".
The problem manifested on my brand new iphone 6 plus and ipad air 2 only 1 week ago on iOS 8.1.2. I will also do my part to submit/report this issue to apple.
Going mad over this bug.. but I with everyone all the best. Hope it will be resolved soon.

Jan 4, 2015 12:18 PM in response to cnscnsby Jonathan Freund,4. Editing the event shows ONLY the GMT times (This is the big problem! The PDT times do NOT display when editing the event)
Yes, indeed, this is the biggest problem. Unacceptable.

Jan 4, 2015 8:52 PM in response to Jonathan Freundby iphoen5,Ok,
I have been using apple products, just name it and I have used them, for quite a LONG time and I really have to confess that after Steve Jobs, apple is just a big company and nothing else. The iphone is TOO buggy, the new OS Yosemite or whatever they want to call it is just a junk of bugs and uses ram like crazy.
I personally want to say good bye to this BIG company and go for something more reliable!
It is sad but it is the truth!
apple is over!
PS.
I have iphone 6 plus and it is a disaster!
I wish I could return it and get another phone from some other company!

Jan 5, 2015 6:49 AM in response to iphoen5by douglas6337,This is crazy and totally unacceptable that something as simple as calendar time has not been fixed, not to mention why is this not a top priority for apple.
Get on it Apple!

Jan 5, 2015 7:21 AM in response to James Barberby jtheodas,I am facing this GMT time problem as well on my wife's iPhone 6 running ios 8.1.1.
When I create an event, it keeps showing up like this.
So, to get rid of this annoying GMT time being displayed, Edit the event you just created.
And touch the start time to change it. It will expand to let you change the date/time and below it you will see Time Zone.
Touch the Time Zone field and then type in your time zone.
Don't forget to fix the time to the correct time after you've corrected the Time Zone.
And voila! Your event should look normal again without the annoying GMT time.
I hope this works for all of you. Have a great day!

Jan 5, 2015 8:36 AM in response to jtheodasby Devinw ,Just wanted to say I'm having this issue. Fixing the events on a per-event basis is not an acceptable solution. Apple PLEASE fix this annoying bug!
