Jan 6, 2015 3:01 PM in response to bdomerby darylefromjacksonville,When I now create a new event in my iPhone on Feb 1 at 9 am for example ... that is 9 am NEW YORK time zone (which is EST). (I'm doing this as I type this ..) I now go to edit that event. It now shows (correctly) that the event is at 9 am. (Previously it would show 2:00 GMT). I have NO idea why deleting Gmail and reinstalling "fixed" this ... But as you can see it is now correct. (Before I would save the event in NEW YORK time zone ... same as I'm doing now ... but when editing it would "mysteriously" change to GMT. Now it doesn't.) Sorry I can't be more help and sorry the pic is so **** large ... I didn't have time to downsize it.

Jan 6, 2015 3:04 PM in response to James Barberby faamike,I went to the peachmac store today with the same issue. Cannot change the ones that are there, but go to general, date and time and click Set Automatically. You should be in your correct time zone. Another wonder of ios 8 and Apple!!

Jan 6, 2015 8:56 PM in response to James Barberby fshamshad,My 12 year old son (future Apple Genius) discovered the solution to this problem, which was affecting my productivity on my iPhone as well. This problem stemmed from the iOS 8 update.
Solution: 1.) Go to your App Store and download the CalenMob app (FREE DOWNLOAD). This is a free app that syncs to your Google calendar.
2.) Open CalenMob and sync your Google Calendar
3.) Enjoy the new layout and the fact that you no longer see that GMT all over the place.
4.) Delete that crappy iCal app. You don't need it anymore.

Jan 6, 2015 9:00 PM in response to fshamshadby fshamshad,"When native doesn't work, you gotta go 3rd party!" - quote from my son on why it's necessary to download an app to make your calendar work on your iPhone.

Jan 7, 2015 12:53 AM in response to James Barberby BeNamBu,this works for me.
1. Go to Settings then choose Mails, Contacts, Calendars
2. Scroll down to the Calendars section, then select Time Zone Override.
3. Toggle Time Zone Override to on
NOw, your calendar should show events in your time zone.
hope this helps.

Jan 7, 2015 5:02 AM in response to BeNamBuby Lonez87,Hey all,
I've been following every single reply on this post for the last 4 weeks since I encountered this problem and I can attest that I have tried every single work around that has been mentioned here, and nothing works. Resetting the network settings, restoring the device, deleting my gmail account and adding it again, heck I even went to the genius bar in my city and they gave me a brand new iPad out of the box... and still nothing but this GMT bug. And while I appreciate that some things are working for some of us, like the toggle for timezone override etc, it sure ain't working for me. And using a third party app to view my calendar is not on. I don't think it's acceptable that we should have to find ways to avoid this bug because it shouldn't be happening in the first place. Apple has really screwed up, and I am almost considering getting rid of my iPad altogether in favor of a PC laptop just so that I can run my business calendar the way it has always worked prior to this update. Anyway, enough of my rant. I'm not looking to poke holes in anyone's theories or start any arguments. I use my calndar to run my entire business and the last 4 weeks have been utter agony for me SO after speaking with a client today who runs in PR circles, I have emailed a letter to a very well known IT journo in Australia in the hopes that this gets some attention and pushes Apple towards a quicker fix. It may not achieve anything but heck I thought I'd give it a go. @JB I have linked this discussion, your youtube video and the appriver article. Here is hoping this gets resolved ASAP. Peace to all

Jan 7, 2015 6:02 AM in response to James Barberby millymc,FOr me it was showing the correct time in where it was sitting in the calendar but then showing GMT time in brackets. I seemed to fix this by going into gmail calendar and changing my time zone back to where I am at. so far so good

Jan 7, 2015 9:40 AM in response to James Barberby Catatonic,I am on iOS 7 and having the same problem. New appointments default to GMT even though I have location services on, and my timezone is EDT. But the Calendar app defaults to GMT. If I set an appointment, and forget to manually change the timezone to the correct one, the appointment time will be hours off. Very frustrating.

Jan 7, 2015 9:53 AM in response to Catatonicby phillyphil12,I don't have the time to read all 30 pages of this thread, so forgive me if this post is irrelevant after some earlier comment(s), but...
The solution posted by Adven on page 3 of this thread totally worked for me (after checking the time zone override, etc.).
Here's what he/she posted, and it fixed it brilliantly for me:
"This solution may or may not work for others, but it appears to have worked on mine. From Month view, tap a calendar entry with GMT listed, tap Edit, tap Starts, tap Time Zone, type current time zone city and select from drop-down, tap Edit Event, Do same for Ends. tap Done. If it didn't work, try same steps with two more existing calendar entries. When I did it, all GMT references disappeared."
Thanks, Adven!!!

Jan 7, 2015 10:04 AM in response to James Barberby bj3john4,I'm having this same issue on iPhone 5s and iPad, but not on my Mac. None of the suggested solutions work for me. I've read through most of this thread... thanks to everyone who has put in such hard work on documenting this bug!

Jan 7, 2015 4:57 PM in response to James Barberby 1wrev1,I "fixed" the problem by setting my iCloud calendar as the default, rather than my preference of Google. Using any other calendar (Google, outlook, etc) causes the London time zone to appear under my time zone in the event. I wonder if Apple created this bug to force people to use iCloud...just a thought...

Jan 7, 2015 6:12 PM in response to James Barberby otterit,I have a ticket opened with Apple. They just told me this feature is "by design". I'm waiting to hear back on how to turn this off.
-
Jan 7, 2015 6:53 PM in response to otteritby JG in SB,It's hard to tell if you are being sarcastic or not......
This is not a "feature," it is not "by design," and there is no way to turn it off.
What you heard is a stock answer Apple techs are instructed to give anyone that calls in with a problem.
#1 appears to be "This is the first time we have ever heard of this problem."
#2 is "that problem can only be caused by something you did to your device as a user."
#3 is "that's not a bug, that is a 'feature' and it is 'by design'"
Do you, or anyone else, truly believe that Apple intentionally "designed" the Calendar app to change appointments to different times than the times entered by the user when they set them up?
Apple has confirmed multiple times at this point, that the GMT thing is a BUG in iOS and that they are working on a fix for it. It is flabbergasting that this information is not being shared to their tech support staff....and that those staff continue to inform people that this is a "feature" and/or that they have never heard of this before. What an utter failure of corporate management.

Jan 7, 2015 7:03 PM in response to JG in SBby otterit,I am *not* being sarcastic. I received a call from Apple tech support this evening and they told me this was by design. I politely disagreed and asked for them to (again) see the discussion group.
I agree this is a bug.

Jan 7, 2015 7:07 PM in response to otteritby JG in SB,Glad you disagreed with them. If you do read you post as sarcasm it's really funny BTW....especially the part about waiting to hear how you can turn the feature offf
