Jan 15, 2015 9:21 AM in response to mshelbymby JG in SB,Just so you know mshelbym, you STILL didn't get a straight answer from Apple. The answer they gave you is BS and they know it is BS. Several of us have received written confirmation from Apple that they know this is all due to a bug in iOS and that they are working on a fix for it. Some of thiose confirmations are posted in this very thread....
To make sure you understand: I don't use Google for anything. Not for mail, not for Calendar, not for documents. No Google products whatsoever. I have this BUG in full force. I use Microsoft Hosted Exchange. So the problem is not generated by Google as Apple informed you. The common factor to everyone who experiences this problem, regardless of what server they use to sync their devices, is iOS.
Apple's standard procedure is to lie to anyone who calls in and first tell them "we have never heard of this before." Then they will waste your time "troubleshooting" whatever it is you called in about that they already know is an issue caused by THEM. Then they will inform you the issue is caused by something you did or some other service you used.
If you want any results on this, just report it as a bug directly using this link:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
OR if you call in just immediately tell them you want to be escalated to Engineering support.
Also, since nobody reads previous posts before commenting, again, here is a link to an article that described exactly what causes this bug...iOS....
http://blog.appriver.com/2014/12/ios-8-calendar-events-display-dual-time-zones/
Notice the above is from AppRiver, an Exchange service provider....not Google.

Jan 15, 2015 11:30 AM in response to Sid Plait 1by JG in SB,@Sid Plait 1: I agree with most of what you have said above. Including this:
"the thread is now 35+ pages, and many people just won't read it from the beginning like I did several weeks ago."
^^ That is precisely why it is a problem when someone new shows up, does not even skim the thread, and then proceeds to post information that is inaccurate and/or misleading which is then likely to be the only thing read by others who then also show up and don't read the thread.
People have become far too sensitive and weak in these days of "microaggression" or whatever the people label anything but pure sanitized newspeak. This is the result of adults who grew up in the everyone-gets-a-trophy-whether-you-win-or-not modern age of child rearing.
Providing a correction to something that someone else has posted which is totally inaccurate does not make one a "dick." When one shows up to participate in a discussion that has been going on for over 3 months, has no idea what is being talked about, proceeds to proclaim that THEY have identified the magic-bullet solution that they believe everyone else has somehow missed in hours of working on this, and others then point out that in fact no that isn't a magic solution....that does not make those people "dicks."
It is HARMFUL when people post misinformation in a support thread that others look at for solutions. Not helpful. That's why, when this happens, it is important for people to respond and provide accurate information. Doing that is not "being snarky" or "being a dick."
As for being mad at Apple....at this point it's certainly understandable. I disagree that they get an automatic "pass" because they are just so busy these days. This has been confirmed as bug in iOS since early November. It is an utter failure of corporate management that 2.5 months later, this information apparently still has not been communicated down to their tech support staff. The same staff who are wasting hours of people's valuable time attempting to "troubleshoot" and issue which does not have a solution that tech support is capable of resolving. I assume Apple has E-mail right? Why not just send an E-mail to all of their tech support staff and give them a brief 2 sentence description of this and that they are working on a solution? So that people don't waste hours of their time trying to "troubleshoot it?"
Everyone would benefit by having a little thicker skin and not getting their precious feelings hurt so easily these days. Our goal here is to keep pressure on Apple to get this major issue resolved....not to make everyone feel great about themselves for posting even if what they have posted is inaccurate and misleading.
In real life everyone does not get a trophy for "effort" they get rewarded for results.

Jan 15, 2015 11:46 AM in response to mshelbymby ESBW,I just spent the last hour on the phone with Apple troubleshooting. After 52 minutes, they told me they were aware of the problem and that it is not an Apple problem but a Google problem and that, on the one hand, Apple cannot do anything about it, but on the other hand, they are working with Google to come out with a bug fix.
That's quite a coincidence that the problem started at exactly the same time Apple updated to IOS8! Wow, those Google developers must have been standing there waiting to push the button to execute their splashy new 'GMT program' on the Google servers at exactly the same time Apple was releasing their latest update! Or maybe not. Really, an insurance company couldn't have been more evasive! I sure hope this gets fixed one fine day.

Thank you for this. No I didn't read month's worth of comments. I read enough to know Apple has a problem they're not fixing fast enough, as calendaring is a primary function and not a game. I was relieved to find out this wasn't just me. So I used this link to make my comments right to Apple. Thanks again. If this bug doesn't get fixed really soon, I suggest posting this again. The tumblr format will indeed make your comment vanish into the depths after a while.

Jan 15, 2015 12:11 PM in response to Whimsy Collectiveby Whimsy Collective,An update from Google Groups on the Calendar Help: "calendar puts everything in GMT time on my iphone. NOT on google calendar on line"
Amie Lowery Luyties Jan 14 (17 hours ago)
I called apple today and they said its a bug they are aware of and will have to be fixed by the google/iOS engineers. They couldn't guarantee when it would be fixed but that it will be patched in an update at some point.
Issue: every time I add a new calendar event, it automatically changes to "GMT" within 1 second. -
Jan 15, 2015 12:13 PM in response to ESBWby Gator5000e,Well, actually iOS 8 came out around the same time Google changed things up with Google calendar. It was sometime in October that Google ended it's Google Sync program and changed some of the other APIs for the Calendar that required the companies that have 3rd party substitute Google sync programs to update those programs. I agree this is still an Apple problem but maybe it was the convergence of a perfect storm.

Jan 15, 2015 12:29 PM in response to James Barberby Sid Plait 1,Boy, I sure HOPE they aren't expecting Google to fix this, because that means it (maybe) will fix it for some of us, but it sure won't for JG in SB and anyone else who has the problem but doesn't use the Google calendar.

Jan 15, 2015 12:34 PM in response to Sid Plait 1by JG in SB,I'm optimistic that when Apple eventually fixes this, the fix will "fix" it on all platforms (Google, Exchange, etc.). The bug is doing the same thing on both Google and Exchange: picking up the time zone setting from the hosted account server clock and then transposing you r appointments to that time zone. So if Apple removes the code that does that, it should fix it on all platforms.

It's actually something that both Apple & Google/Exchange are going to have to adjust. All you can do is submit feedback to each of them.

Jan 15, 2015 4:52 PM in response to James Barberby Geekfiend,I Also have this problem. It is not a problem with my timezone override either I fiddled with that. It is a definitely a bug in the ios. I Can't sync all of my appointments that I have for work to my ipad or iphone. So very frustrating, I have actually went back to a paper calendar due to this bug. Ironically one of the reasons I purchased an ipad was to make scheduling appointments easier! Apple please fix this bug!! It is a major problem!

Jan 15, 2015 6:49 PM in response to rweisenfeldby Dynastyboy2218,Go to "gmail" under accounts section of the mail, contacts and calendars tab and turned off calendars then turned it back on. I also have the time zone override on.

Jan 16, 2015 8:43 AM in response to Dynastyboy2218by joannekc75,In the calendar app:
tap "calendars" at the bottom
scroll down to "all icloud" and uncheck it
tap "done"
all of my entries are now at the correct time zone "New York" and it does not show GMT anymore.
I have my phone synced to 2 gmail calendars and 2 yahoo calendars and 1 outlook calendar, so I didn't need an icloud calendar as well.
Hope this helps....

Jan 16, 2015 10:52 AM in response to joannekc75by ihsoy,Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to my situation, as I do not have iCloud calendars enabled, but still have the issue.
