Thanks for the question. The following resource outlines troubleshooting steps for the symptom you are experiencing:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5183
Symptoms
You may experience one of these issues:
[…]
- Other people can't hear you, or have difficulty hearing you during a phone call or FaceTime call
- Other people complain that you sound unclear during a phone call or FaceTime call
Resolve the issue
Follow these steps, testing after each.
- Make sure nothing is plugged in to the jack connector.
- Make sure nothing is blocking any of the microphones (refer to the pictures below to find your device's microphones). Check for these:
- Dirt or debris
- A screen protector or case
- When you're holding your phone next to your ear, make sure you don't block the microphone with your fingers or shoulder and make sure to speak into the microphone
- Turn the iPhone off and then on.
- Update to the latest version of iOS.
- If necessary, find general iPhone hardware troubleshooting suggestions.
- For further assistance, contact Apple Support.
Thanks,
Matt M.

Oct 27, 2015 7:36 AM in response to ak03by laurianfromfrisco,A hard reset (Home + Power at the same time) will usually give you a fix, but my iPhone 6s Plus did not stay fixed. Apple replaced one phone, and now I'm having the same issue with the new phone.
