Sep 21, 2014 6:27 AM in response to nicole1285by Coolbobcat2,★HelpfulHi there,
I understand that this is an issue for you. Follow these steps, and they should help:
Make sure Siri is on:
- Open Settings
- Go down and tap General
- Tap Siri
- Make sure Siri is on by turning the switch to the right. If it's already on, it'll show a green background. Just leave it like that.
Make sure you're using Siri correctly:
Make sure your holding down on the home button until a screen appears saying "What can I help you with?" then start talking.
-Make sure you have an internet connection or cellular connection
-Make sure your connection is good, and that your internet isn't down or your cellular network isn't down as well.
-Make sure your microphone is not blocked, damaged.
Refer to here for more information: iOS: Troubleshooting Siri
Try resetting your network settings:

- Open Settings
- Tap General
- Go down, tap Reset
- Tap Reset Network Settings
- If prompted for a pass code, enter it.
- Tap Reset Network Settings
- A series of different screens will show. This is normal.
- Once this is done, unlock your phone and try connecting to a network or cellular network.
- Try using Siri.

Sep 23, 2014 11:50 AM in response to nicole1285by Paulie in LA,★HelpfulI am having the same problem. I went to the Simply Mac store near me and say it's a software problem since there is audio with video and phone calls. I did a full restore, to no avail, Siri still ignore me. Siri DOES work with the earbuds or headset in, so it seems that there is either 1) software problem connecting siri to my internal mics, or 2) hardware problem with my internal mics.

Oct 19, 2014 8:14 AM in response to Coolbobcat2by Jeffreyawilson21,I did everything you suggested above and still I am not able to use Siri or even speak my texts. Am I going to need to take this into the apple store and have it replaced? Please help as this is frustrating that I have such a great phone and am not able to use all of the features.
thanks,

Oct 19, 2014 8:47 AM in response to Jeffreyawilson21by nicole1285,Nothing worked for me, after an hour at verizon they sent me to the Apple Store. After an hour there they gave me a new phone. This one works perfectly fine though so I'm happy.

Oct 21, 2014 9:36 AM in response to nicole1285by Mattdander,★HelpfulI have the same problem as Nicole (e.g. sudden loss of Siri, but around Oct 19). Siri will only work with the headset mic and none of the resets seem to do the trick. The built-in mic seems to work fine for all other functions and Siri seems to register sound (that is, the line that signals that sound is detected moves in waves), but, regardless of what I say, the 'some things you can ask me' menu always comes up: in fact, it is the only thing that ever comes up.

Oct 21, 2014 12:15 PM in response to Mattdanderby Jeffreyawilson21,I ended up calling Apple and they didn't have any fix so I scheduled an appointment with my local Apple store and told them all of my attempts to fix it and they ended up giving me a new one. So I don't know if the 8.1 update fixed it at all and from the description it doesn't seem that it has so your best bet might be to take it into your local Apple store. It took me like 15 minutes and I was all taken care of.

Oct 23, 2014 12:12 AM in response to nicole1285by patscanlan,Same issue here on iPhone 6, iOS 8.1. Siri does not hear me and audio message recordings play back static. At one point my videos recordings were recording static as well.
Reset all network settings as well all settings, neither made a difference.

Oct 31, 2014 9:27 AM in response to nicole1285by Smcew,I'm having the same problem with an iPhone5. Siri clearly hears me, but she's obviously possessed for Halloween. I'll say "Write Note" and she'll say she's starting to play some random artist... or calling some random number... or contact. It worked last week, before the last update.
