After updating my iPad mini to iOS 8 I found I couldn't hear any sounds. It is not muted, all sounds are up, and even tried with headphones. Can't hear music, games, keyboard clicks, nothing. I also updated my iPhone5 and the sound is fine there. Anyone else have this problem or know a solution?
And yes I checked the physical volume/mute buttons on the side as well as in the settings/sound menu.

I realized RIGHT after I hit post that the ONE thing I hadn't done was turn the device off and back on! How did I forget the #1 go to when your electronic is messing up!? Thanks for responding, b/c if I hadn't thought of it you would have steered me in the right direction! things seem normal now.

Same issue on my side, iPad Air, on the beta it was working fine but since the official releases of iOS 8 and 8.0.2, no sounds on games such as Star Wars Commander or Pirates Plunder. When I use earphones it works, when I use bluetooth speakers no problem, but without these I can't ear the sound on games.
I tried the ideas posted on the topic, none of them worked (now I have to put back my settings...)
It pretty sad to see that something as basic as the sound is not working well on such expensive hardware!
Since I downloaded the iOS 8.2 on my ipad mini I do not have sound for any of my games. I have tried to reset my ipad mini as suggested but it's still not working. I do have sound for netflix and youtube but not my games. How come?
mine's still the same, in using my ipad mini still no sound, no keyboard sound, video on my camera roll wont play it says (the operation could not be completed) i've tried restarting my ipad holding the home and the sleep button for 15 seconds and then it turns off, nothing happens ive also check the mute and volume settings and lastly ive tried restoring my ipad and it turns out it's still not working. help please? im getting frustrated. 😟

If you have restored to Factory Default and it's still not working, it's time to make an appointment with Apple.

I solved this on my ipad mini retina by setting the 'rotation lock' slider to 'sound off':
- Go to Setting->General
- Change from rotation lock to sound off.
- Wiggle the slider: sound will return
- Now you can set the slider back to rotation lock again
DIdn't work for me, when I use the button to up/down appears "headphone" on screen and I'm not using it, please help!

u r probably using the wrong button, is not volume. I hope you have an iPad with the slider.
but, in any case, try yo replicate the environment for the solution, and, if you DO NOT have the 'rotation lock" slider as "rotation lock" and directly in "sound off" go back one step and put it in "rotation lock" … try to use volume button, that it will not work and then do as below ...
