Q: Itunes playcount too high

DDepends on the app you use. Quietscrob did add in the scrobbles from itunes. Ecoute does not. Though it has missed a few scrobbles. Cloudscrob seems to work reliably as well.

Yep. My play counts are messed up too now thanks to ios8. My work around is to do a full restore on each sync! Or use my iPod classic.

Are Apple aware and working on a fix?

I have a 2nd gen ipod that i havent used in forever so it does not have ios8, that means it's "safe" from this problem, right?

yyes, the issue seems to only effect ios8 devices.

Thanks. Then I'll have a way to listen to music while im not home, allthough it will be annoying having to carry around two devices.. but it's better than nothing i guess.

I wish I had a device not upgraded that I could switch to.  A Note 4 or LG G3 is starting to look good...

I can't work this bug out. I am monitoring my playcounts every time I sync, and it appears that only certain tracks are subject to this bug while others are not. Anyone else experienced this?

Needless to say, this is extremely annoying. I have messed up playcounts and a messed up last.fm.

If you play from your MAC is not a problem, but when you play it from a iphone/ipad the play count is all messed up:

1 play 1 count

2 play 2 counts

3 play 3 counts

so basically if you play 3 times you add 6 counts in a sort of exponential way...

Grr.  I'm now carrying a 17" MBP to work to listen to music and not listening at all in the car.  I need to let go of this playlist OCD but I can't...

   I kind of chuckled at this but only b/c I can completely relate.  I've put many long hours into getting my iTunes how I want and when something like this occurs it really is too much to handle.  Resorted to just not playing music on my phone which is semi depressing.  Hopefully a remedy comes soon..... #wishfulthinking

I urge anyone who is having this issue to report it to Apple, it takes literally a minute, as this bug hasn't been picked up by any big websites/media it's probably fairly low on their list of priorities, lets hope ios 8.1.1 comes soon and includes a fix!

I used this link and chatted with an agent.  She elevated it and scheduled a callback to me tonight with another agent to get more details.  Hopefully that helps push it.  I gave her a link to this discussion as well.

Experiencing the same issue as most of you ever since the update to iOS 8 on my 5s. Upgraded to the 6 and updated to iOS 8.1 on Saturday. Was having no issue with the play count until today. Just reported the issue to Apple as many of you have.

Might have stumbled upon a trend and wanted to see if it applies to anyone else. Not every song I play has its play count skyrocket after I sync it with iTunes. Today I played some albums straight through and others I put on shuffle. The albums I played straight through all have the correct play counts while the albums I've shuffled all have annoyingly high play counts.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this. Sorry if someone mentioned this previously - didn't have time to read through all of the posts.

I pretty much only play albums straight through and I'm getting the same issue.
