Also, where is the little icon to turn on air play that used to be direct on the screen of the video? It's gone after the upgrade.

You can get to the Airplay button from the Control Center.
Use AirPlay to wirelessly stream content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Connect your iOS device and Apple TV or AirPort Express to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to access Control Center.
- Tap AirPlay.
I still see the Airplay button in the lower left of some Safari videos. If not, I use the Control Center option, mirror the screen and make the video full screen on the iOS device.

Thank you, but that's not what I am looking for. I know I can connect with control center, but it won't stay connected, after a few seconds it drops and happens over and over again.
The missing icon is a different issue.

Having the same problem. I know it can connect with control center. But what happened to the Airplay icon in the video player? I have used AirPlay that way on a daily basis.

After the upgrade to iOs 8, I can't properly stream content from online websites, through my apple tv to my tv.
