iOS 8 Traffic Conditions Widget does not appear

Just got an iPhone 6, and also have an iPhone 5s with an upgraded OS (now at 8). When I pull down the Notifications Center, scroll to the bottom and then press "Edit", I see that there is a native "Traffic Conditions" fixed to the top of the Widgets section.

It is a great idea, but it never displays anything. I am assuming the Traffic Conditions come from Apple Maps, but the widget does not display any data regardless of any of these scenarios:

1. Apple Maps Closed

2. Apple Maps Open, but no route selected and not navigating

3. Apple Maps Open and route selected, but not navigating.

4. Apple Maps Open, route selected and navigating.

Does anyone know how, when or why the "Traffic Conditions" widget is used?

THANK YOU!

I have the same problem with my 5s. No one at Apple seems to know what is causing it. I’ve taken it up with an upper level tech who can’t figure it out either, but is still trying I've been told. I’ve tried restoring the phone, but this did not help either. The restore however did clear my history for some reason and it took a while to start showing up again. Frequent Location History now dates back to Sept. 30, 2014, however still will not display Traffic Conditions in Notifications. So frustrating and Apple acts like they never heard of this issue from anyone before.

Since the iOS 8 update, I have never seen this feature work on my iPhone 5s. Recently, however, I have created an even in the Calendar with Location and time to get there from my Home. At the specified day of the event, I saw on Notification Center the traffic condition on the way to this event. Ever since, the NC starts showing me information traffic condition to my frequent locations. I guess, the Calendar event trigged the NC to show the info and it is now working well.

Seems like that is a BUG, Currently i am using "INRIX Traffic" app which is providing the traffic updated based on my schedule as the Location service is allowing for "Always" as an option. This "Always" feature is not available for the MAPS App and that is been restricted to "While Using". Hope this will be helpfull to fix this BUG.

I found a workaround. What I did was make a calendar reminder of what time I go to work with the address of work and reminder of what time I go home so I can see traffic to work and home. You can do this for any other event if you want to see traffic by just adding a calendar reminder and the time that you need to be there with the address and then you'll see the alert when you pull down the widget. Hope this helps

It's either a buggy app or an extremely sensitive one. Yesterday, it showed a fairly accurate estimate of my commute time - but then I didn't go straight home. Today, it stopped showing traffic estimates for the time it'll take me to get home. It's annoying that I can't tell the app what I expect from it, I have to wait and pray it learns what I want it to do and have no control over the end result.
