No, sorry, because iPhoto is still working with iOS 7, and you bought it with iOS 7, not for future iOS versions. There is never a guarantee for any software that it will continue to work, if you change the underlying operating system. Don't upgrade the operating system, if you want older software to continue working.

Leonie, just to clarify.... Are you saying that when Apple releases an operating system they don't ensure it is backwards compatible?

(I'm half way through creating a set of three photo albums. I've just forked out $70 for the first album and am half way through creating numbers 2 & 3. If I cant finish the set I will be furiously! How dare they sell me a product then make it useless!)

Applications are usually backward compatible. They can open documents created in earlier versions.  But applications are built for a specific system and use the system calls of that system. There is never a guarantee that they will work with a new operating system without an update. Apple has released updates for several apps, but in the case of iPhoto it has decided to stop the support and to replace it by "Photos" for the new iOS 8 version. Apple is replacing all photography applications - on the Mac (iPhoto and Aperture) as well as on iOS (iPhoto) by a unified Photos .app working with an iCloud Photo Library; see  Aperture is Dead. I'm sorry Leonie, but it is immoral to sell someone a product then choose to render it useles. Apple is not behaving like a good corporate citizen.

I miss iPhoto too. It was the best iOS application.

You may want to tell that Apple.  Use the feedback form. That will go directly to the Developer team.

Include a feature request for the most missing iPhoto features, like books, journals, tags, brushes.
