Sep 24, 2014 10:19 AM in response to ianspby iansp,Thanks Jason, I'll give those a try.
I have just discovered that the same issue arises with my iPad2 - even after upgrading to iOS8.
I'll report my findings in due course.

Oct 14, 2014 6:56 AM in response to ianspby iansp,Hi Jason
I have tried all the suggestions you made, but without success.
I tick all the appropriate boxes under the iTunes 'Info' tab and click on 'Apply'. The window at he top of the screen says 'starting sync' for about five seconda and then reverts to the 'Apple' symbol.
This happens both for my iPhone 4 (iOS 7.0.2) and also for my iPad 2 (iOS 8.02). I have done a full restore on both devices from backup, but there is no change on the Sync problem.
Is this perhaps some kind of incompatibility with the iTunes 11.4 update?
Regards
Ian
