Failure to sync iPhone 4 to iMac

After upgrading to iTunes 11.4, trying to sync my iPhone 4, it says 'starting sync' as usual them immediately reverts to the Apple symbol in the progress bar.

Tried a phone restore, phone says 'to sync by wifi connect with cable and select "sync by wifi" ' and phone screen remains stuck with that message. Result, no sync and no response on phone screen.

(17" iMac, Snow Leopard, iPhone 4 with iOS 7.1.2)

Hi Jason

I have tried all the suggestions you made, but without success.

I tick all the appropriate boxes under the iTunes 'Info' tab and click on 'Apply'. The window at he top of the screen says 'starting sync' for about five seconda and then reverts to the 'Apple' symbol.

This happens both for my iPhone 4 (iOS 7.0.2) and also for my iPad 2 (iOS 8.02). I have done a full restore on both devices from backup, but there is no change on the Sync problem.

Is this perhaps some kind of incompatibility with the iTunes 11.4 update?

Regards

Ian
