Apr 7, 2015 6:45 PM in response to GIS_Kidby iBrando,I found a setting in the messages app.
Open Messages app.
Select a message thread, then tap "Details". (located top right)
Once there check for another "Do Not Disturb" toggle.
The text underneath: "Mute notifications for this conversation"
Turned that off and *poof* back to normal.
Lock screen notifications/sounds... Check.
Unlocked notifications/sounds... Check.
A quick way to see if this additional "Do Not Disturb" is active on your messages is to view all your message threads.
If it's toggled on, there will be a little grey moon beside the name/number. The same little moon that appears by your battery icon when the main DND is active.
Took me hours to find it and fix my wife's Messages notifications.
I hope this helps.

Apr 14, 2015 9:38 AM in response to Kbsfxby FitDriver,The same thing happened to me. If you've got the quarter moon displaying on your screen, then your phone is in Do Not Disturb mode.
Go into settings and turn all the buttons off (they'll change from green to white). That did it for me.

Apr 25, 2015 8:41 AM in response to JSharkeby laurancee,I Know this is probably not the problem that everyone is is having, on my iPhone 6 I went through most of the steps, I checked all my settings in do not disturb and it was on manual. I like to keep it that way. The last step that worked for me was I went through my contacts, opened a contact, clicked edit. There I noticed it's a separate place that you can turn on do not disturb for each individual contact. Somehow do not disturb was on in most of my contacts going through that way. I just opened each one up individually and turned it off there. Now I have no problems.

Apr 28, 2015 10:21 PM in response to JSharkeby Darberboom,I wasn't getting a text sound from just one of my contacts and it was because I had inadvertently switched the individual contact to Do Not Disturb. You can go to the conversation and tap the Details up at the top right to see if this happened to you. The Do Not Disturb was off in my main settings, but on for the one contact. Maybe this can help someone else. It's so frustrating not to hear a text when you need to!

Apr 29, 2015 12:51 AM in response to GIS_Kidby solidOz,Recently my family and I bought ourselfs new smartphones. I got myself the iPhone 6, and got my mother the Samsung Galaxy S6. Since we wanted to use the option for video calls we got ourselfs Skype.
This is the issue:
I can call the Galaxy S6 and she will receive my calls. Her phone does not need to be active, neither does Skype. She can put the phone away for hours, the moment I try to call her over Skype it comes up and everything works fine.
NOT SO, with my iPhone...
If I don't use my phone for a while and she tries to call me it simply doesn't work.
The only way I receive calls from Skype on my iPhone is when the App is active. My english isn't that good, I'm trying my best to describe the issue
!What can I do to get the same functionality as on the Galaxy S6? Why can't I receive incoming calls without the App running? Why can't I receive calls after not using my phone for a long while.
Skype can be in the background after initially starting it up, and my iPhone does receicve calls, but after a while it doesn't... I have the same issue with Google Hangouts, if I'm not actively on my phone inside these App's people are not able to call me.
How can I fix this? I want to receive Video Calls without needing to start Skype/Hangout/X every 5 minuts, or needing to run it in the background at all. This works without an issue on the Galaxy S6, why doesn't it work on the iPhone?
I tried the solutions here, but somehow it doesn't help. I guess it's not the same issue, but I didn't want to open a new thread just yet. Maybe someone already knows what I'm missing please

May 2, 2015 5:19 AM in response to gslone01by dawnrunner,This sorted it for me - I was only getting text sound alerts through headphones and not on the actual phone but I simply turned Bluetooth off and hey-presto sound alerts came back with my text/whatsapp messages. My phone had been using bluetooth in my car yesterday - although I've never noticed the problem before and it has been paired with my car for over a year. But thanks, sorted!

May 5, 2015 1:39 PM in response to GIS_Kidby jjkraw,I was seeing something weird along these lines today, so I thought I'd add to the conversation...
iPhone 6, iOS 8.3.
When unlocked, I would get both a vibration and tone upon receiving a text message. When locked, just the vibration.
Do not disturb was not active. I hadn't muted anyone. Bluetooth was off.
Finally, I just restarted the phone and it is back to normal.
Also, solidOz, you need to start a new post as your issue is something completely different.

May 15, 2015 4:30 PM in response to GIS_Kidby RobinTC,We've worked on this for the last two hours, tearing out my hair! However my brilliant wife made a discovery. Similar but different than your iphone 6 problem, we had no text notification sound or display. We noticed that when the text message arrived it had a blue dot with a white moon in it rather than the customary solid blue dot. We opened the actual text message and tapped "details" at the top right and found the "Do Not Disturb" feature was enabled. We simply turned that off and now my text notification works, tone and display. Give it a try, good luck. I need a beer!

May 31, 2015 4:13 PM in response to Jazzysueby Mr. Luigi,Jazzysue! I don't care if you are a guy or girl, I just want to give you a HUGE HUG! For some reason my Bose Bluetooth Audio Adaptor had auto-connected to my iPhone and so the phone was trying to play sounds through the speaker I have connected to that Bose Bluetooth Audio Adaptor (which was off)! After I read your comment that suggested checking to see if a bluetooth device was diverting sound from the iPhone's speakers I swiped up to reveal the Control Center and sure enough, Bose Bluetooth Audio Adapter was displayed. I changed that to "iPhone" and everything is fixed. Bravo and Thank You so much.
Mr. Luigi
