iPhone 6 touch sensitivity problem near edges of screen

I'm wondering if others are experiencing the problem I'm having with the sensitivity of the touch screen near the edges of the screen.

Often times I have the press harder or multiple times on buttons near the edges of the screen. When typing on the keyboard, it will often miss my first attempts at pressing the letters "A", "Z", "123", "L", etc. When using the calculator, I often have to press the "+" or "1" two or more times before it recognizes the press. All of these letters are near the edges of the screen. I tried typing on my wife's iPhone 6 Plus and do not have the same problem.

Do I have a faulty touchscreen, or is this a common problem?

Just tried calculator and 1, 4, 7, C & + are an issue.

After much troubleshooting and a phone replacement (for an issue with the home button too), the problem appears to be software related. On my replacement phone the problem continued when I restored from an iTunes or iCloud backup. But when I set up the phone as a new device then manually entered my 10 email accounts, re-downloaded my 100+ apps, set all my customizations, etc. - the touch screen works fine. I've even backed up and restored the new setup and old setup several times to confirm this.

All I can think of is there's likely screen size setting that's carried over from the iPhone 5 backup, that's mis-matched on the larger screen on the iPhone 6.

I wish Apple would involve me in beta testing their new software/devices and I could help them figure this stuff out, and save myself and other from countless hours of setting up their phone again. A selective restore would be nice (accounts and apps, but not settings).

I restored a backup from when I had the touch screen problem, then did a "Reset All Settings". That also fixed the problem and left much of the data intact, unlike the more aggressive "Erase All Content and Settings" and starting anew. Call logs, texts, photos, email accounts and passwords, apps all remained. Wi-fi password, Display & Brightness, Wallpaper, Do Not Disturb, Sounds, Touch ID & Passcode and Privacy settings were all reset.

I've tried all of the various resets recommended, including a complete wipe and reinstall. And nothing helps. Started off being mainly a "P" and "0" issue on the keyboard when in portrait mode. It now appears to be getting worse, with a general lack of sensitivity on any action on the main screen. Sometimes it takes many pokes before an icon activates a program. I've had the phone for 24 hours and I'm disappointed, disgusted and just generally pi**ed off. I am going to have travel back to the Apple store, some 50 miles away, and probably be told there is no more supply of my configuration. At which point I'll ask for a refund and have my iPhone 5 reactivated. Worst Apple experience in my 30+ years of using Apple products.

I've done the complete "wipe" and reset and it seemed to temporarily help. But what I'm finding now is that occasionally the screen just goes dumb not reacting to any finger contact anywhere on the screen. Especially frustrating if you try and power down and restart, and the slide bar doesn't respond. Just as soon as I get ready to toss the phone out the window, it comes back to life. I still think I"m going to request a replacement iPhone. Seems to be a hardware issue.
