Already have a TM backup - How to make a 2nd backup to another external HD?

I have a 100GB backed up via TM to a 150GB partition on an external hard drive, 30GB remain in the partition.

To make a 2nd TM backup to another external hard drive, can I just do a straight copy from the partition to the new drive?

What is involved if I want to make the new TM partition 200GB?

Thanks in advance.

It's recommended that you have 2-3X the size of your data.

Time Machine: How to transfer backups from the current backup drive to a new backup drive

You might find that Time Machine will start over like it has not previously backed up after moving your data. This would double the data on the drive. It might be best to start with a new Time Machine backup.
