WHY did they disable this? I can't swipe down from my lock screen and see what appointments I have today. It's really annoying. Is there a way to turn this back on? its not under settings > notification center
It's not disabled, the settings were simply moved. In iOS 8, go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode. Scroll down to the ALLOW ACCESS WHEN LOCKED area and toggle the Notifications View on. While you're there, toggle any other setting that you desire.
