Q: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load  very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

 

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

    Millions of iPad 2 owners and users are having no problem with the current iOS. They just don't post here and say ... "Everything is running just fine for me!" ... :-) ...

     

    And in addition, the few that I've talked to here about this have said that setting it back to factory default works well for them. I suspect that the very few that are having problems here (compared to the installed user base) are related to files that may be corrupted or even possibly hardware problems. But, to test it out, you should back up your data, then reset it back to the factory default position, don't reload your personal data (yet) and see how that operates for you.

     

    ALSO ... Apple is currently selling the iPad 2 ... as we speak ... on their store website. It obviously works just fine.

    I'm wondering how many of those with problems have jailbroke devices.  I asked several individuals but received no answer.

    I'm just a writer. Not a tech person. I posted a similar complaint about Apple using us as guinea pigs and releasing updates which cause grief for their users. (my family owns 19 Apple products so it is not as if I am anti Apple!).  Some responses to my complaint about were based around "wait until the release has been out for a few weeks, see what problems there are before updating "  Which I take as advice not to be a guinea pig, let others do i.. Or "what do you expect, Apple can't be expected to test every combination of software and hardware". Which really doesn't talk to the issue of problems with an iPad 2 after an update.

    There is a reluctance to say "Hey Apple, it just isn't good enough". And a similar reluctance from Apple to make a public response. By the way, this post will probably be taken down ? If it is can you direct me somewhere else where I can advocate that prevention is better than cure.

    SSounds more like you'rea sales person for Apple The more you oppose and post on this discussion.

     

    What I find really interesting is that this discussion IS for those of us (no mine is not jail broke) that ARE having issues with the up-date yet you feel compelLED to post on here as if you are the all-knowing iPad master and those of having issues are morons. thus the question begs to be asked ... why exactly are you perusing this discussion if you are having such a wonderful time with your ipad? Seems more like you're trolling.

     

    One can quote millions of ipad owners and say they're not having issues but is it more like millions of iPad owners are having problems and simply can't be bothered posting questions or complaints. just because Apple has them for sale on their site doesn't necessarily mean they operate flawlessly. More likely they are dumping them  because ... ahhhh they have them in inventory.

     

    THanks for your informative and helpful suggestions. Unfortunately they too failed.

    SStar Traveler obviously just likes to spend his/her free time defending Apple. What other motive could one possibly have for spending time on the message board, speaking for "millions" of "problem-free" iPad 2 users? That's what I do after work - I cancel my plans, and tell people how it's their fault, not Apple's.

    Well, I've never sold anything for Apple in a store, have never worked for Apple or worked for an Apple Store or worked for a retail establishment selling Apple products or worked in the service industry servicing Apple products. I'm simply a long-term Apple user from back in 1984 ... :-) ... and have had a lot of experience (from a user standpoint) of many different Apply products.

     

    What I post is from experience and also from the standpoint of answering "directly" some of the things that some people say, which are patently and obviously wrong and I see it, strictly from a user standpoint and from long experience.

     

    None of those comments are to say that someone "in particular" is "not" having a problem. That's not what is being said. There are answers for any problem when an iPad is not working ... and Apple Support "has the answer" for you. Or the Apple Store and the Genius at the Genius Bar has the answer for you. I'll guarantee you ... that if you go to either Apple Support or the Apple Store, you will get the correct and proper answer in order to get an operating and running iPad - whatever it takes to get there. But, you do have to go through the steps.

     

    And again ... whatever I give for suggestions for "fixing" an iPad is NOT to replace Apple Support and it's NOT to replace the Apple Store and its customer service. THAT is your main stop and that is where you should be going - and NOT "users helping other users" - if you're not getting your answers here. Your answer is at Apple Support, and they will do whatever it takes to get you a functional and running iPad.

     

    This particular forum is for those kinds of people who "love to fiddle" with their devices and just love to test and go through all the steps and see how it functions and if they can fix it themselves. If you are not "that kind of person" then don't stop in here ... go to Apple Support where they help their customers!

    Actually, I'm part of the "users helping other users" on this forum. I do it sporadically, whenever I have time, and you can see that I have accumulated a few points for actually having provided solutions and having provided helpful answers. That's what the point system is for ... and that comes from ther other users who were helped. I have nothing to do with those points ... you see ... :-) ...

    NNow that was the first funny and informative thing I've read on here today!

     

    As a long term Apple user (yes I too have been with Apple since the II Plus) and also happen to be the IT Administrator for my company, feel fairllllllly confident when I say Apple customer service suck right now. 

     

    Those other that are pretending to know more then those posting here or bullying those choosing to post comments on here are simply suffer for low selfasteem and enjoy the feeling of intellectual superiority.

     

    i However believe there is a problem and I look forward to my fellow Apple heads sharing both their positive and angry negative comments for the masses to view. If anything it's theraputic to see other suffering the same crap we are ... which  is just enough therapy to prevent me from frisbeeing my iPad into the wall everytime it hangs, double types, fails to connect to my WiFi, etc.

    If they have not had iOS 8 installed on them (and some of them might not if they have been there for a week or so), they will have iOS 8 as soon as the next batch comes in. They always sell the latest iOS according to what it was when they finished the device. And furthermore, all of them will have the upgrade path straight to iOS 8.0.2 ... right now in Settings ... and it will upgrade and be all right, if someone does that with their iPad 2 that they buy from Apple right now.

    Apple Customer Service does not suck right now, as can be attested by the very high ratings Apple gets in the industry. You're "projecting" a problem you may be dealing with right now on a forum ... onto ... Apple Support, which doesn't even relate to Apple Support. Go to Apple Support, put in a ticket for a particular device and a particular problem or go to the Genius at the Genius Bar at the Apple store with your device and see the Customer Support you get. And you'll definitely get it.

     

    This forum is NOT Apple Customer Support ... and that may be where you are going wrong. You are equating a forum with a bunch of "users helping other users" with Apple Support. And actually, I see people post here all the time "thinking" that they're getting Apple Support (wrong!) ... :-) ...

    OK- I feel compelled to answer some of the assumptions, falsehoods and plain bullcr@p that Star Traveler is spouting:

    NEither Apple support or he genius bar have the answer, unless you consider the "answer" to be "Mmmm- yeah- that *****, and we appreciate your concern. We understand and sympathize with your frustration. Have you tried rebooting?"

    APple customer service escalation says, "It has reached the end of its usefull life."

    WHat Star Traveler doesnt seem to get, because he's a tool for Apple, is that we're not dummies. Most of us have made at least one trip ro the Genius bar and spent hours on the phone trying to get Apple to correct its mistake.

    If you want to fiddle with your iPad, Star Traveler, fiddle away, but dont you DARE tell the rest of us we're just not clever enough to fix our ipad. Many of us are business users, Star Traveler- we're smart enough to own our own businesses, and most of us are probably sharper than you while we're in REM sleep so go back under your bridge or go troll some TMZ message board and let the adults talk.

    The bottom line here with Apple Support is that if you have an iPad that is not working ... and you go there and put in a ticket, they will do whatever it takes for you to get a working iPad. That's simply the bottom line.

     

    Now, if you want to "fiddle" yourself and do talk and post on a "users helping other users" forum ... that's totally up to you, but don't call "that" -- Apple Support -- because it's not.

     

    If you're "sharp enough" ... as you say, then fix your own iPad, by all means. But, if you can't do it ... then don't blame Apple for your inability to fix it. Go to Apple Support and the bottom line is that you'll get a working iPad ... no matter what it takes.
