Q: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load  very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem.  My iPad 2 worked great until I loaded the new operating system.  Everything is much slower.  I can no longer close apps using the "pinch" method, several apps will randomly close for no reason...just to name a few.  I think this is Apple's way of "encouraging" us to upgrade to a newer model.  i am a very unhappy customer right now.

Tthe issue isn't about getting a working iPad after installing a new update from Apple.

The issue is that many of their customers believe that Apple should take more care when issuing updates.

    I doubt that.

Possibly several hundred individuals are having problems.  Out of some forty million devices, that ain't bad.

I am new to the forum, but I have been fairly impressed with everyone's civility.   Let's not let our frustration turn it ugly.

    Possibly?

    You don't really know then?

    Where can it be verified?

It's actually impossible for Apple to even test all ALL situations. They can test for the bulk and overwhelming majority of users ... and the fact that the overwhelming majority of users don't have problems shows that Apple has done that satisfactorily. If you're trying to say because of the limited and smaller number of people here who have evidenced some problem of one kind or another ... that this shows Apple has not tested their software adequately, that's just plainly wrong. You're not putting it into perspective for the entire installed user base.

Again ... it is impossible for any company (even when Apple does a very good job of it) to say that no one will have any problems. There are too many variations out there (with all the users) to insure that. You're expecting something that is not achievable. What is achievable though, is that when a user does have a problem, then Apple will help them at Apple Support and get them back to a working and usable machine. That is something that someone can expect.

You're correct.  I don't know and I doubt that it can be verified.  It's a judgement call based on the posts on this forum.  Keep in mind, this forum is similar to a hospital and you're very likely to meet a lot of sick people in a hospital.

Apple is not "encouraging you" to upgrade to a newer model ... especially not so, when Apple is currently selling the iPad 2 on their store website, as we speak, right now ... :-) ...

You're imagining this "idea" of Apple encouraging you to upgrade.

Seriously naive comment comparing this to a hospital. Out of forty million devices, hundreds of people are commenting and thousands are not. Any analytical/statistics professional will tell you that this represents a significant percentage. This is a problem. ios 8 upgrades are compromising the performance of probably thousands of iPads but of course, only if they upgrade.

I Support dozens of Apple products at dozens of businesses. Mostly small and medium sized law offices.

i Am on vacation right now with poor internet coverage and a malfunctioning iPad that doesn't allow me to copy and paste, and which Safari has totally crashed while trying to type this message three times. So excuse me if I sound a little short when I see someone calling the people having issues dense.

not a one of the devices I own is jail broken, nor are any of my clients.

i Cannot access my database due to the crashes and my notebook is in the car, but let me tell you this.   We have had complaints from the owners of apple ithings since the release. I emailed them all when I first had problems, warning these businesses NOT to update, but many did. Now they are contacting us for support. Why Us? Because we sold them to them, or helped set them up, or, because they don't want to deal with the geniuses.

you know the type. They had rather pay us 125 an hour to handle their trip to the Apple Store, or to contact apple support.

we have spent many billable hours trying to get said support.  Both at the store and on the phone.

A FEW have been fixed. Mainly the new iPhone 6 devices that had no internet or cell service.

NONE of the tableta have been fixed...zero.

yes, I have personally been told that I should consider a new tablet because my iPad 2 64 gb with verizon wireless is very old and a newer tablet would run better.  They even demonstrated that to me.

WHat eat they cannot do or will not do, is to revert these tablets to their previous working state. That's all anyone wants.

their update broke these tablets.   And they have no solution.

I heard a long time ago that the iPad 2's can't run well past ios5.  A lot of people had a similar experience when iOS 7 was new.  Such a bummer, I have an iPad 2 who has been all around the world with me  -- that one  runs happily on 5.  See if you can reinstall 5 --- good luck!!!

WWow! Star Traveller ... Settle. You're going to get a good TPS report review trust me ... I heard Apple appreciates you and all the points you've accumulated.

You forgot the title of the discussion is "ipad 2 slow after IOS 8 update". We're not asking you for an Apple sales pitch. If you don't like what we're talking about ... Or complaining about ... Head on over to some other Apple happy-feeling discussion.

FFunny how Apple has deleted a lot of users posts as off topic but your ramblings continue even though your preaching has nothing to do with solving the title of the discussion.

I haven't updated my iPhone 5s because my work's mail app won't work with IOS 8.  So I'm thankful that I didn't install that crappy update.  However, in the days since they released the update, my phone has gradually slowed down to the point that I can't even open the built in messaging app.  So apparently you're screwed either way.

There was a previous post where a guy mentioned having a beta version released so that the masses didn't have to deal with Apple's unimaginable screw up.  I've been a loyal iPhone user for years, but this has honestly made me think about my next purchase.
