Oct 5, 2014 10:30 PM in response to pacoKASby Lucas dude,I'm sorry to say this but iPad 2 is a pretty old iPad. It has similar tech specs as the iPhone 4, which doesn't even support IOS 8. If you're having performance issues with your iPad 2s I really have no suggestions. TONS of people have problems with their iPad 2s after upgrading to IOS 8. No offence but, iPad 2 is pretty outdated compare to the tech apple have today. Also please don't hate on me for saying this.

Oct 6, 2014 12:39 AM in response to Lucas dudeby davidfrommanteca,@Lucas dude - Yes, the iPad 2 is getting outdated but why did Apple decide to let the iPad 2 support iOS 8 when it obviously shouldn't support it? Most users, including myself, were quite happy with iOS 7. Now we can't even go back to iOS 7 and an iPad 2 with iOS 8 is relatively useless.

Oct 6, 2014 6:05 AM in response to LonghairCountryboyby Star Traveler,Why don't you go to the Apple Store and tell "them" that ... They are Apple, and not us here ... :-) ...
-
Oct 6, 2014 6:07 AM in response to davidfrommantecaby Star Traveler,Apple did that because Apple sees that it still works with iOS 8. Apple is STILL selling the iPad 2 on its store webpage!

Oct 6, 2014 6:10 AM in response to Lucas dudeby Star Traveler,I Would guess iOS 8 would be the last major update got the iPad 2 ... it is definitely getting towards the end of its useful hardware life. They will still be around for a long while, but people will have to be finagling with them to keep them going after this iOS 8 (namely, iOS 9).

Oct 6, 2014 6:12 AM in response to Georatby Star Traveler,You can actually buy an iPad 2 from Apple, as we speak, on their store website and a buyer will be able to get TWO YEARS of warranty service on that iPad 2 ... that's two more years from today!

Oct 6, 2014 6:18 AM in response to AnnoyedAppleby Star Traveler,Oh .... you're in touch with Apple about my posts?! ... LOL ...
And ... If you check out the terms for use on these forums, they are for getting solutions to people's specific problems. And that means if someone tries a solution given here and it doesn't work, no ... it's not supposed to devolve into a GRIPE-FEST on these forums ... but rather that person should go over to Apple Support or to the Apple Store and get it taken care of there.
Here's Apple Support ...
And here you can make an appointment to get your iPad fixed ...

Seriously naive comment comparing this to a hospital.
Not at all. It would be like taking a visitor to see your country (let's say the USA) and taking them to hospitals across the country, and saying, "This is our country!" The visitor would say, "Oh my God! Everyone is sick in the USA!"
Of course, those hospitals represent only a very, very small minority of the country, at any one time. You can't say that these people "in the hospital" and their condition while they are there "represents" the country.
That's what you're trying to say by people coming to "this hospital" (where users talk to other users to fix their devices) and think that this forum represents by any degree at all, the installed user base and how it is doing.
Out of forty million devices, hundreds of people are commenting and thousands are not. Any analytical/statistics professional will tell you that this represents a significant percentage.
Hundreds may be commenting about a problem here and a problem there and talking about how to fix things ... but MILLIONS are not, because they're doing okay with their iOS devices and the upgrade to iOS 8.

Oct 6, 2014 7:26 AM in response to amylu11by Star Traveler,Apple is selling iPad 2s ... right now as we speak ... on their store website. AND ... these new owners of iPad 2 are able to upgrade to iOS 8. So, whoever told you that iPad 2 couldn't run past iOS 5 ... didn't know what they were talking about.

Oct 6, 2014 7:47 AM in response to ChrisPhilipsby Star Traveler,I think you've been reading someone else's posts, because I never said that users coming here to this forum did "not" have a problem. What I "have said" is that this forum is not for a "GRIPE-FEST" ... but for getting solutions. And if someone picks going to other users to try and get help ... that is exactly what the forum is for. But once someone has tried several solutions for their problem and they haven't gotten any resolution, it's NOT time, at that point, to turn their posts into GRIPE-SESSIONS ... but rather ... it's time to "GO TO APPLE" and get Apple's help and tech support. That's what I've said.
And also, you'll note that this is not what the forums are for (i.e., GRIPE-FESTS, which accomplish absolutely nothing!) ... but they are for getting solutions for particular devices and particular problems.
Therefore, where users need to go, after this forum is to Apple Support ...
Or they need to go to the Apple Store ... set up an appointment here ...
https://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
And, you should also know that the Terms of Use for this forum doesn't allow for name-calling ... :-) ... and sneaking in name-calling again, after having your post deleted once, is not abiding by the terms, either.
